I recommend that when you buy this book read it with as little interruption as possible.
And what is this drivel about 97% 'consensus'. Consensus is a political term and is utterly un-scientific. 'Oh, Mr Galileo, the Vatican and 100% of scientists - a universal consensus, agree that the sun circles the earth.....so you must be wrong.....' And excluded from the BBC !
This book is calm and reasoned. The accusations of cheating, falsification of evidence and all the tricks that the fanatics have used are revealed, and if the author is wrong, then he can be challenged in the courts.
HAS HE BEEN so challenged in the courts, of course not. Draw your own conclusions from that. As a layman, in scientific terms, I am grateful to the author for bringing clarity to so many issues.
If you are interested in the debate rather than revealed truth, then this book is an absolute must.
The idea that we humans have the power to alter the climate for the planet caused me to think we are all going mad. How on this earth could we do that? Volcanos, Tsunamis, Hurricanes even Earthquakes can't and these events can present the most powerful wide spread effects known to us in the 21st century.
Reality is this. Sure, if we cut down all the trees in a given area, the weather in that area will change "slightly", until the trees grow again. But - to suggest that humans are able to produce enough CO2, even though the amount in the atmosphere has been much higher in the past, it will cause a catastrophe which will lead to the end of life as we know it today, is not only ludicrous, it is a lie.
The truth is this. Humans will never have any effect on global climate but I can assure you of one thing. The sun will, as it has in the past and there is nothing we humans can do about that. The best thing we can do is be prepared, to adapt to changes in localised conditions. Don't build homes near creeks and rivers. Don't build too close to the coast. Don't allow big trees to grow near your home. Install flood mittergating devices - levy banks, deeper drains, dams etc., to protect communities. Comply fully with local building codes, make homes stronger where needed. In other words, use common sense. Be careful and you will be okay unless your luck runs out and no amount of preparation can protect you from bad luck.
This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

Tim Ball asks some very important questions: why do scientists need a PR agency to defend their science? Why do they need to crush all voices that try to disprove them, when the entire basis of progress in scientific research lies in disproving existing theories? To what extent will the world have to pay the cost of these false theories, and what is the cost we have already paid?
