The title is misleading: there is very little of Hayek's actual writings here. Each chapter starts with a paragraph or two from something Hayek wrote, after which Boudreaux writes at length about the idea that he wants the reader to grasp.

It's about Hayek's IDEAS, as explained by Boudreaux. Boudreaux is a pretty good explainer.

As a former computer consultant trying to learn economics, I find this a most interesting read. It actually spells out why the "capitalist" system is good and any other form of government control from the top is doomed! This man does not get caught up in Keynes spend and and control from the government. He foreshadowed the fall of Communism! While he wrote in the 40s, I believe his ideas are appropriate today.

A very readable short summary of Hayek's ideas.
The writer grew up under Soviet communism, so understandably has a utopian view of Hayek's free market ideas.
He gives the ideas very clearly and concisely nonetheless, saving the reader from having to wade through a lot of heavy academic text.
This quote at the end of chapter 1 sums up why I do not share the writer's rosy view of Hayek's philosophy:
"Market prices, as we’ll see in the next section, guide each of us to act as if we know about—and as if we care about—the preferences and well-being of millions of strangers."
Are we human beings not capable of knowing and caring about others without the tyranny of money breathing down our neck?
I feel that the regulatory power of broadening democracy is also left out of Hayek's political reckonings.
But surely the ultimate reason why we must urgently put Hayek's ideas behind us is that they have nothing to say about the environment.
And if we don't make that our priority now, we may very soon have no society for his markets to regulate
