A combination of basic nutrition information and healthy recipes, "The Everything Family Nutrition Book" is a complete compendium of 'user friendly' information collaborative provided by Leslie Bilderback (a chef in the Los Angeles Unified School District's Nutrition Network Program) and Sanda K. Nissenberg (a registered dietician and nutrition consultant specializing in child nutrition). Authoritative, comprehensive, and wonderfully accessible for non-specialist general readers with an interest in providing good nutritious meals and diets for themselves and their families, "The Everything Family Nutrition Book" covers everything from the Food Guide Pyramid; to understanding food labels; to vitamins, minerals and protein; to the role of carbohydrates, fats, oils, sugar, and fiber in a healthy diet; to breaking bad eating habits; to the benefits of home cooking. Particularly informative are the chapters dedicated to nutritional issues of pregnancy, children of various ages; adults; and special diet. There are invaluable chapters dedicated to the value of exercise and sports nutrition. Many of these informational chapters on nutrition are enhanced with the inclusion of recipes that range from Tofu Stir-Fry; Soft Tacos; and Cheesy Popcorn; to Mixed-Grain Pilaf; Banana Walnut Bread; and Wilted Greens with Garlic. "The Everything Family Nutrition Book" is an ideal and highly recommended addition to family and community library Health & Nutrition reference collections and cookbook shelves.

I first rented this book out on my kindle and I enjoyed it so much I bought a paperback copy. It has a bunch of recipes I want to try and nutritional charts I wanted to be able to easily reference. It is a book chalked full of useful information and in an easy to follow format!

This book on nutrition arrived at the right time as I was planning to start a course on nutrition at a private medical school. I found in the book everything I want to satisfy the needs of my students who are studying nutrition. The language of the book is very simple and understandable as I teach in a French dominated environment. My students can easily grasp the contents of the chapters and make good use of what they learn.
