The more I read books about cheating, the more off putting I found them. Personally, I think it's the lowest thing you can to do someone you claim to love. All these books try to rationalize it, and every man or woman has a good reason for why they do it. Something happens to justify what they did. I HATE how he lied to her at the bar. Why ask if she was married, knowing full well he was. Would that have changed his course of action, I think not? He was a coward, plain and simple. If he really was that unhappy, and Stephanie was that bad, then leave. They have this fancy new thing called divorce. Use it. Don't disrespect yourself, your spouse, and the new person that you claim to love that way.
All these things were going through my mind while trying to read this book. I'm glad that I finished it, but it's not one I will pick up and read again. I did see the attraction, the love, but that doesn't make it acceptable, and to say at the end he wasn't really forbidden because he belonged to you is utter crap. No, he really didn't, he belonged to his WIFE.
Now that my rant is done, I do apologize, by the way. I can say that the book was well written, and I do really give her props for having the courage to write something like this. To be willing to bear the criticism and nasty things that people have to say. I applaud you! I hope I wasn't nasty, but it is hard to read books like this. To each their own, if you enjoy this author her words are true to who she is, if you have found or are currently in a similar place, I hope this books brings you something.
Annie.... a woman whose whole life is before her. She just wants to live it while always following her dreams. When you know that your dreams can be reality you don't have to take a moment to think it through because there's only one path you take.
Then she meets Jack. Your so set on your path that when something happens to alter your course your left so confused and questioning which direction to take because there were never choices before that you were unsure of. You have to read the story of Annie and Jack.
The Forbidden took me through a roller coaster of emotions and had me realizing quite a few things including that not everything is black and white -- there are many shades of gray, things aren't always as they appear and you can never truly know what someone's been through. I'm truly in awe in Malpa's ability to weave a tale that engages the reader from the first page right up to the last. ❤
I had an affair. I was that woman. I fell in love with a married man. It was wrong, and we both suffered for it. We have both lost something—a loss we will share forever. But we still have each other. Part of me feels robbed by whoever’s up there in charge of the fates for keeping Jack from me for too long. But we were always going to find each other, no matter what. No matter who tried to keep us apart. Even me and Jack ourselves. Nothing could stop it. Nothing could stop the connection that was so strong it sent our worlds into chaos.
Another amazing book Jodie..just amazing.
I have waited for months to read this, as have others & it did not disappoint! I haven't sobbed this much over a book in along time. As usual, we have fabulous characters to fall in love with thanks to your brilliant talent for weaving words! All I can say is, more please!
