It has awesome early Oils recordings and footage but the price is too much for the packaging.
There is nothing really great about the can and the cheap paper envelopes! I hopped I would get a nice booklet with great photographs, but no ....
Also, some of the material was already available and if you're a die hard fan, you probably already had those.
The Blackfella, Whitefella is included in the DLX version of diesel and dust, The Capitol concert and the Goat island were available in the Best of Both worlds box set. The Black Rain Falls can be bought as a DVD, with much better packaging!

It IS worth the price, for priceless music...and I love how it's designed...full metal tank, top comes off, discs are in cardboard slipcases that are thin but loose inside, so the discs do not get scratched...opening at the top of each album, restored front & back covers, disc designs matching the front covers, all held with the 36-page, same-sized booklet in the middle of foam innards that is cut out at just the right size for all disc covers to be held in place nice and snug. The companion tank will serve as a cool bookend for any collection, really well-designed. And the booklet has a well-written essay, details, full credits and some cool photos...
Very much worth it, period.
1. Lasseter's Gold (CD) - Billed as "unreleased studio recordings," I was excited for this one. I had always assumed there were recordings from the album sessions that never made it onto the album. But it's a let down - just demos or unfinished ideas.
2. Chiko Locallo (CD) - B-sides disc... but all of it previously released and, as such, focused mainly on the 1990s. I guess they just didn't have finished recordings that never made the albums, which is why their singles usually just tacked on a remix or live recordings.
3 & 4 - 2 live CDs. Okay, but nothing revelatory.
5. MTV Unplugged (DVD) - previously released.
6. Black Rain Falls (DVD) - previously released.
7. Saturday Night at the Capitol / 8. Oils On the Water (DVD) - previously released as 2xDVD "Best of Both Worlds"
9. Only the Strong (DVD) - making of 10-1 album in the same vein as other "Making of..." Interesting once, but that's it.
10. Blackfella Whitefella (DVD) - previously released... twice (it was included in the Diesel & Dust 20th Anniversary Edition)
11. Ellis Park the Concert (DVD) - previously televised performance.
12. Moments in Space (DVD) - Bits and pieces of various live performances. Most were on the RSL 2xDVD set.
So, I wouldn't have had such an issue with almost everything being previously released if it been put on BLU-RAY. But just putting them out on DVD in 2017??
And, lastly, no friggin' disc of remixes!! That's what so many of us would like - something that collects each and every remix!
For the $200 price tag, I am disappointed in the set. There's a sticker that says "made from recycled materials" and that's no joke.

Der Tank selber ist optisch ansprechend und sehr gut verarbeitet.
Die CD Hüllen sind etwas spartanisch, es sind keine einzelnen Booklets enthalten und keine Texte.

Die DVD enthält alle Clips der Band, inklusive Used and abused (1978er Version), Back on the Borderline, Cold cold change, Armistice Day, Surf's up tonight und Too much Sunshine.
Eine gute Vorbereitung auf die kommende Tour.

I am a big fan of this band but I did not have any of their music
on CD, so this purchase made sense for me and I am happy with it.
There are two problems, however:
1. It is very expensive for what you get. The average price per disk
is the same as what you would pay if you bought them individually. If
you already have some of these CDs it makes no sense to buy the set
for the missing titles.
2. The packaging is annoying. I understand that the band is proud of
its legacy and wanted something special for their catalogue, but it's
really just a coffee tin that doesn't fit into my disk storage shelves.
I like the booklet and that they kept the original album artwork, but at
this price I expect more.
A question I often see is "Which versions are we getting?". It seems
some of these disks have been remastered and released in more than one
version in the past. The best I can do is quote from the booklet:
"All albums remastered by Steve Smart by Studios 301, Sydney except
Diesel and Dust remastered by Bob Ludwig, Gateway Mastering, NY"
"Tape Restoration - Steve Crane, Studios 301, Sydney and Thorsten
I do not know if this means these are the "Sony Gold" versions or some
other version, or maybe even a new 2017 (the year this set was released)
set. Press released from 2017 are vague as to exactly how these disks
compare to the individual disks available at the time.
The set contains all the Midnight Oil studio productions up to their hiatus
in 2002, plus a DVD of all their corresponding music videos. It does not contain
The Makarrata Project because that was made after the set was released. There
are no live recordings, special releases or collaborations with other artists,
just the Midnight Oil studio albums and EPs:
