All books on strategy talk about the application of strategy in business or other crafts (Such as Michael Porter's), but fail to explain what strategy is by it self. Strategy is a system, just like any other system; it has a specific way to operate it but with endless aplications and this book explains it in the only way that can be explained.

The book does not teach you to apply strategy, that is up to you and your professional orientation; it teaches you how strategy works regardless of what you do. After reading the land mark books on strategy (classic and new), I would not uncover the principles of the strategy machine; this book does it.

Gary thanks Sun Tzu for it for writing the art of war a million years ago, but I think Sun Tzu would be proud of this work.

I re-read this book AT LEAST once a year. It is an EASY to read book, that teaches you the basic principles of strategy. It is written in VERY short 2-3 page Chapters/Lessons. And those 2-3 pages have colorful pictures and graphics as well, AND it is a small sized book with large (OK not huge, but not teeny tiny) print.

It makes a great short attention span or limited time read...ie "Bathroom Book".

I believe every single person alive would benefit from reading and understanding this book.

BONUS---- Are you a business person looking to contact Executive Level Decision Makers? Buy copies of this book. Write a personal note to the executive put it in the book hanging out so they see it. Wrap them up in a box and drop off the package to his "Gatekeeper" AKA- Administrative Assistant that stonewalls you constantly. This is an uncommon (SADLY) book and I get a 90%+ rate of phone calls from Executives that were previously unreachable. That tells me that the Execs valued this book too.

Get it, read it, understand it, implement it, kick butt.

Another well written book once agin by Gary Gagliardi. Once again simple but to the point. For many it's hard to apply the principles, strategems, and tactics of Bing Fa, this book has mad the cross over allowing you to see it applied in daily life.

This is a great introduction to the principles of strategy. I have read a number of books on business and war strategy. Most books show examples of strategy in action, but don't explain "the system". This book does an excellent job explaining what strategy IS at a high level, so that you can analyze examples and understand what aspect of strategy is in use. (e.g. explains stategy at a meta level) The information is also presented in a way applicable to every day usage. Sun Tzu will be a much more valuable read AFTER reading this book.

More information on the book is available here [...]

This book was so invaluable. It started of slow. A lot of the information in the first few chapter of this book was shared on his free podcast on itunes. The information in the later chapters was so simple and digestable that .... well it's on of those books that you keep next to your bed and constantly review. Lessons are fun, Information simple, an awsome book!!!
