If one partner is making more withdrawals than deposits in any relationship, this should become "must listen" reading.
The very fact that it also serves as career advice perhaps makes it that much more acceptable to men - though certainly many women are the ones fostering an uneven relationship whether they know it or not.
Beyond that the underlying advice of "be more proactive" is excellent - it's just easier said than done - as the author acknowledges.
Covey has edited the key points from each of the 7 habits and delivers the book in his characteristic fashion. There are some folksy stories to illustrate points, a dash of humour, and plenty of thought- and action-provoking material.
The 7 habits are often quoted, particularly on juggling priorities and tasks, yet this audiobook reminded me that much of what Covey is dealing with works at a much deeper and more meaningful level.
Highly recommended.
My girlfriend started on this "Laws of Attraction," "The Secret," "The New Thought Movement," "The Power of Positive Thinking" philosophy and mindset, and at first I felt skeptical. I try to take everything with a grain of salt, but the improvements on her life, whether can be logically explained or not, is 100% due to her new way of thinking. Motivational books and speakers only root those philosophies when the going gets tough (no one said anything about easy). I bought this and 6 other audiobooks/CDs for her to listen to on her long commutes, and she ranked this one in her top 5. Take that how you want it.
The CDs are a little different from the book. It's the same basic information, but presented in a less formal, seminar-like format. Covey used analogies and stories to make his points, and it works well ... making his philosophies more clear and applicable. I listened to this in my car several times through before passing it on to a family member who is already on her second listening.
If you're looking for practical guidance for creating change, I highly recommend these CDs.
