i heard this song for the first time when i was watching the Grammy's and i-tunes had the music video for free, so i downloaded that then came to amazon and bought the song. I personally love this song, it brings back memories from my childhood and i love that. I will also say this is the first song i have ever had that miranda lambert sings, but i'm picky when it comes to music so, anyways she has an amazing voice and if you like American Honey by Lady A, then you should like this song as well.

I was driving home from work about a week ago when this song came on the radio. At that moment I was not driving home anymore, but far away playing in the backyard of my childhood home. And thinking of my Dad. This song is just about a house, right ? The memory of my house is just a door, opened for a moment by this song, to a wonderful time in my life.

Best country song I've heard in years--thank you, your songwriters, and your musicians for bringing emotion and sentimentality back to this genre!

Every time I hear this song I cry. It reminds me of visiting my old home and the neighborhood where I grew up. I was fortunate enough to have a tour of my old house about ten years ago and I felt a lot of the feelings and had many similar thoughts that are expressed in this song.

a very close to my heart song, it's beautiful and Miranda does a wonderful execution. Many times I hear a song and think how good it would be if someone else in mind sang it. This is great by Miranda...no one else could sing the emotion that I hear from her in a way that speaks volumes to me. I think it's beautiful...I've even requested from my husband to keep this in mind when I shall pass from this earth (morbid, a little...but like I said, it's a close to my heart song) Hope you love it as much as I do. BTW not even a die-hard Miranda fan, she's great...but Faith Hill is more my style. But this is an Excellent execution by Miranda!

This is one of the most beautiful songs to be produced in many years. The theme is one that most people can relate to. The images connect with common human experience. The lyrics are skillfully written and the music very effectively supports the words.

I thoroughly enjoyed Miranda Lambert singing "The House That Built Me". A bittersweet look back at youthful life, it prodded my own childhood memories awake, although mine were quite different from the songwriter's. I guess many of us look back fondly on that time of growth, albeit with some painful memories as we struggled to change and mature. Miranda sings best, I believe, when she sings songs like this one, and the song, "More Like Her". These slower, reflective songs really bring out the emotion and power of her voice.

I find this to be a very touching song about a woman trying to put her life back together who strongly feels that by going back to her happy childhood home she will find her way back and heal. The music and lyrics are brillantlly combined to make this a great song, and along with Miranda Lambert's beautiful voice this is one beautiful song destined to be a classic and one that won't be forgotten! Highly recommended by me -- couldn't add it to my favorites fast enough!
