I am not as familiar with the bible as many nor as familiar with 'biblical approaches' to
Christianity, and for the seeker such as I, Jaime really brings clarity and
understanding to many of the questions I have linking NVC to Christianity.
I love how the Introduction is very brief, and the organization of the book:
I. introduction, II. Echoes of the Garden III. Sermon of the Master
IV. Compassionate connecting, V. conversations in closing
takes one on a journey of of what it means to be a Christian directly through the bible,
not one particular religion's way of practice, making stops at what I sensed are
the main teachings of God and Jesus.
Jaime does not venture into making a case of proof for Christianity or proof for linking NVC
to the teachings of Jesus. His writing is simple, honest and personal.
I find myself holding on to Jaime's picture and story of NVC and Christianity
as logical and easy to understand. It has been thought provoking and inspiring
to look further into the bible for more depth regarding certain points.
I have been an NVC student / practitioner / fan....for many years now.
I came to find NVC after *leaving* Christianity -- at least the church
that is.
With great respect and disconnect for Jesus, I began a journey
of zen, humanism, yoga... NVC really helped me to LIVE my values, and
gave me the tools to 'readjust' so to speak.
And I began to hold thought that NVC can't really work with Christianity ...
right / wrong thinking .... judgment ... authority ...
I have held great sadness with these thoughts never really taking the
time to make some outward requests (go seeking). Staying in the world
of zen and Buddhism was quite comfortable for me.
Now I am in a place where I am circling back to Jesus, and am full of questions,
doubts, mistrust, curiosity .... Jaime's book has been invaluable for
confirming intuitions I hold, thoughts I have had, and mostly for offering insight
to that which I seek.

Unbiblical with flawed theology
This book attempts to "christianize" NVC by misquoting Scripture and adding his own interpretations of the Bible. Deliberately skiping the most important part of Gospel which is our needs for salvation due to our sinful nature and Christ's death on the cross for our sins. His definition of sins is alienation caused by needs not met (see photo).I was hoping for some reconciliation between NVC and Christian faith. I'm very disappointed with this book and will be returning it.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2013I have been a practicing Christian psychotherapist for 28 years and about 3 years ago discovered NVC. NVC, along with Inner Relationship Focusing, are now my core processes for clients and myself.
As I read the book and as I write this review I have been feeling very grateful, hopeful and inspired because I so value clarity, community, support that help me follow Christ more whole-heartedly, and help me help my clients on their journeys. As I studied NVC in the past I naturally made lots of connections to Jesus's life and teachings, especially on forgiveness, love of enemies, active nonviolence. What I love about this book is that I now have a resource that clients might choose to use to help them make those connections, and which will help reassure the occasional client who needs specifically Christian language.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2019Among Nvc groups, people rarely mention God as part of our reality. But for christians, He is part of what we observe and strategies, as someone we can always count to meet our needs. So, if you are a christian and is starting on NVC, I recommend this book so you can understand that Rosemberg's teachings fit perfectly on your beliefs.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2015The NVC component is very good. I fear he will loose too much of his audience with the theological content in the first part of the book yet worth the read for Christians or seekers wanting to see how NVC and Christianity are related.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2018Expanded my knowledge of NVC. Excellent in depth contribution to the field of nonviolent communications!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2016Jaime brings his wealth of information regarding NVC and applies to his core spiritual beliefs. Well written and extremely insightful
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2016I was touched by how much of his personal journey James/Jaime poured into this book. The book is easy to read and uses straightforward language. I found this book to be the most useful interpretation of the Bible I have ever come across - it turns many puzzling concepts in the Bible into concrete, actionable things you and I can do every day when we encounter other people. When I first heard about NVC, I was thinking to myself: "I bet Jesus was a master at this way of communicating, and it was so alien to people that they had no other way to describe the impact other than use the language of miracles." If you're looking for a way to practice Christian values without necessarily being a devout practitioner of the belief system, this book is probably the most illuminating guide you can find.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2011I did not know what to expect in this book when I received it, but after reading through a number of the chapters, I have to say that the book is a great combination of practical wisdom from Scripture and many other fields. What I liked was that the book went deep and asked questions to make you think deeper about your own connection to nonviolent communication.
At the end of each chapter, the author provides discussion questions to help the reader organize his or her thoughts around the books' emotional and intellectual content. The book is actually written to promote discussion and I could easily see a group of people taking the book and using it to start having quality dialogue regarding nonviolent communication.
For me, there were a few areas that referenced wikipedia, and being a person that relies on quality research, I tend not to always appreciate references to this type of online reference, but other than that I was quite impressed and know that other readers will be as well.

This book is the best i read after the Bible and Marshall Rosenberg’s book « Non Violent Communication ». I am so grateful to Marshall because he give me the key to understand Holy Scriptures, and so graceful to Jaime because he teach me how to use this key to open Holy Scriptures. This book will be my bedside book until my death or my lifting to sky with Christ, and i will do all my best to make it known as the good news of Kingdom of heaven. Thank you Jaime for giving us this Universal Translator Interface to Christianity. Blessed, You are.

I was looking for a book that would help me to frame Non-Violent Communication in a Christian context, after studying Marshall Rosenberg's work. This book definitely did that.
