"Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty" follows Jep and Jessica Robertson as they introduce adopted baby Jules to their other children - Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River - and the rest of the extended Duck Dynasty family, and as they face new milestones together with their unique, down-home sense of humor.
I have watched all the episodes of "Duck Dynasty". I was skeptical whether "Jep & Jessica" would be as good. So far: I have watched seasons 1 & 2 of "Jep & Jessica" and liked all the episodes. It is different than "Duck Dynasty" even though all of the "Duck Dynasty" people make an appearance, one by one, now an then besides Jep's wife and 5-children. Martin & Godwin appear the most. Though "Jep & Jessica" is different; it is just as good as "Duck Dynasty". I am eagerly looking forward to Season-3. Jep & Jessica have a charming family. Jep's mother-in-law comes to live with them. When Jep screws-up; he has both women mad at him; thus, Jep gives his mother-in-law a hard time. She is very nice and helpful with the kids. Jep & Jessica have a lot of projects. With five kids; there is a lot happening. Jep gets into trouble in almost every episode, and yet, always saves the day.
While a variety of the Duck Dynasty regulars show up on various episodes, this series, as the name entails, focuses primarily on Jeb's family. Exploits and episodes tend to be slightly more grounded (and a bit less goofball) than recent DD seasons. While it is still 'reality TV' for the most part and you should take the scenarios with a grain of media-savvy-salt, it's still fun and refreshing to see the Jeb, Jessica and their little ones go through family issues together. Instead of the traditional family meal that wraps each episode of Duck Dynasty, this series gives us some hand held phone video of the family together. This is a nice touch and keeps things feeling a bit more 'real'.
Love this show. I am a fan of Duck Dynasty and didn't know how they would pull off a "spin off." I thought it would be much like Duck Dynasty. This is such a fun and refreshing show. I hope it's the start of many more seasons. Sweet (and imperfect) family, love this.
As a big fan of duck dynasty, I had low expectations for this show because of the lack of quality cast members. I was thoroughly surprised at their total inability to be entertaining. The Jep character is unbelievable as the moronic, self absorbed, millennial father failure; the kids are WAY too scripted, and the short appearances by the duck dynasty cast are the only redeeming moments of this train wreck of a show. The more you watch this, the more you will dislike these people.
This show has a "realness" to it. Real reactions are being caught on camera, not people trying to act. It is a tear-jerker, yet in the same episode(s) you chuckle! You do not have to like Duck Dynasty to like this show! While the formula and faces are similar, it stands on its own!
Hope they have another season. Some of these episodes seem to be just a lot of them sitting around not doing anything. I agree with another reviewer in that it does seem a bit staged. I hope to see more of other characters in the family like Phil if they do a second season. But I do still like it and it is a fun show.
