Well- documented and well-written. A fascinating and honest portrait of the Queen Mother.

Wonderful read! And during our lifetime she excelled as Queen Mum....couldn't believe how active and engaged she was until her death!

After seeing the Kings Speech I was curious as to the history of the Windsor's. I came across this book and can not put it down! With over 900 pages its a good one for the kindle. The book is fascinating and very easy to read touching upon many first hand accounts of the actual events making it very credible. The Queen Mother had quite the personality. Makes me wonder why they often are mistaken for being very proper and boring. One never knows what goes on behind closed doors and this is an entertaining peek!

Great book - learned a lot about this exciting woman -- what a life -- what a character!!! Worth the effort to plow through this large book. Could have benefitted from a dictionary of British terms and landmarks.

The Queen Mum was remarkable in spirit and stamina. Her optimistic nature is probably why she lived so long.

I am enjoying this book, but it is slow reading going thru letters and notes from the different diaries and communications. It is interesting to feel what Elizabeth felt during the most important happenings of the Twentieth century.
