I am a retired CIA officer who was stationed with Bill Buckley in Beirut when he was kidnapped and participated in the immediate investigation afterwards. The coverage of this documentary of this topic is materially factually incorrect so as to render it useless as an historical reference.
1. Buckley did not have a Lebanese girlfriend at all, let alone a Lebanese girlfriend that he flaunted around town. This representation is complete fabrication. I was very close to Buckley personally during this period and knew him well.
2. The description of Buckley's kidnapping is materially false in that;
A, His building did not have an elevator (I was there many times and walked up the stairs.)
B. His building did not have an underground parking garage.
C. Buckley was taken while driving his car on a dead end street next to his apartment building as he exited the surface parking lot.
D. Buckley was not carry Top Secret documents in his briefcase. In fact, as an inventory conducted after his kidnapping proved, he wasn't carrying any classified documents in his briefcase.
If the producers got this part so terribly wrong, how can anything else that they say be trusted?

Pretty fascinating history of clandestine operations throughout the last 50 years of US history.

The actual footage isn't original, and the scenes are portrayed by actors. The history itself seems to be pretty accurate, as far as I can tell.

The series already feels a little out-dated in terms of production quality, but it is a fun watch nonetheless.

Tells the true story behind CIA and government investigations into hunting terrorists. The episode on capturing Bin Laden was riveting. I wish the AHC channel, or this show was aired in HD though. I have it in standard format. What's so compelling is that the stories are real and we're gratefully being told what happened behind the curtain with the war on terror after 9/11.

Of course I knew going in that nothing much was really going to be "declassified" because in today's world the government releases tons of documents that are just BLACKED OUT (redacted) page after page.

Not bad for a CIA puff piece. How about an episode about Clinton,'s role in Benghazi that explains why we were selling weapons to Muslim terrorists. ..
