Waited a long time for this, book 2 in the series. This book does not disappoint. Those who loved the first book will devour this continuation of the story. Christy Raedeke has an enormous bank of knowledge about darn near any topic you can think of...from ancient history to, dare I say it, quantum physics. She is unafraid to share that knowledge with us (tempered for those who don't speak Geekenese). She weaves these fascinating topics into a fast moving story in such a way that the reader is thoroughly entertained without realizing that they just learned a great deal. But it's the story that we bought the book for, and it's a grabber! Caity is right back in the thick of things, looking over her shoulder for persons who want to make sure she doesn't complete a World-Changing mission that she can't avoid...it was assigned to her centuries before she was born [ read the first book if you are curious about HOW ]. Finding themselves in a world of the Ultra-wealthy Elite, Caity and Justine must sort out who is for them and who is against. All the while dealing with trusted friends that have shown a definite bent toward betrayal. When forced to put themselves under the care of some of these people, I had to stay up w a y too late for my own good, while I indulged in some speed-reading to find out what happens next. Of course, There is always room for a little Hanky-Panky with a certain young man (or two) and I'm not going to tell you how THAT works out. In fact, I'm not going to spoil the story for all of you who've been waiting over a year for this exciting continuation of our heroines' adventures. Let me just say IT IS WELL WORTH YOUR TIME to read this book!!
this book series is great, the story starts with book one Prophecy of Days about a girl named Caity Mac Fireland & how her family inherits a castle in Scotland were she finds strange symblos and finds out the symblos are about the Mayan calender and a prophecy about her self that will change the world. The Serpent's Coil is the continuation of book one and is just as good, I recommend it for anyone who likes a thriller.
This book carries the intensity and intrigue that started with the first, Prophecy of Days. This book is anything but predictable and the action doesn't let up until the last page. There are so many unique and rich characters: Mr. Papers, a monkey who communicates through origami, is one of my favorite characters of all time. A fantastic view on the 2012 Mayan prophecy and the power of youth. I recommend this book (after you read the first) to teens as well as adults.
