These games can be of dominance, virtue or success, or a combination of two or more, and all are unintentional ways to gain status. Status, enclosing job titles, is shown to be more important than money, except for those who measure their status by financial gain. The author explains how status games have driven the renaissance, the enlightenment, and numerous medical advances - but also led to fascism and communism.
The book is well researched with 70 plus pages of notes and sources, and is an enjoyable read. If you are fairly new to behavioural economics and physiology there will be lots to learn too, but clearly less so if you are already familiar with the topic
