In Common Law, Travis Marks and Wes Mitchell are two partners who - apart from their polarity and odd couple behavior - have a seven-year track record as the Los Angeles Police Department's best detectives in the Robbery-Homicide Division.
Please stop canceling quality TV shows that have thrilling character driven plot lines. Common Law premiered in the summer, when most of the American TV watching audience is on vacation or expecting re-runs. No one is going to form a relationship with a new show during the summer. This fabulous show ran for 13 episodes and it was canceled before school was back in session. Common Law was about two detectives who were really good at solving crime but really bad about standing each other- so they get sent to couples' counseling by a captain who is desperate to keep his best two detectives together. The mystery as to why after a 5 year partnership they suddenly hate each other is hinted at the entire first season and thanks to good writing is finally brought to light in the season finale. The show was many things- action sequences, buddy cop comedy, intelligent drama- what it didn't have was a chance to find it's audience. Shame on the USA network for not being brave enough for one more season. Sincerely, A Fan
I don't know if USA is trying to corner the market on crime shows or bromances, but they keyed it spot on again in Common Law. The chemistry is unbelievable, the humor is unbeatable, the action is fun and fast, and the wit is as sharp as a katana (a real one, not a display version). Both main characters are flawed, but lovable. It's tied with White Collar as one of my favorite shows. The humor is much less dry, but just as witty and the relationship is more barbed, but there's just as much love there.
Wow! It took them long enough to show us why we should stick with this show. Eventhough I confess I am a hugh fan of michael ealy, I was about to cancel my subscription to this season pass and any future ones which I was convinced would never happen anyway. Well, this season finally in my opionon, has saved them from cancellation! I hope they get picked up for the fall lineup now and I will definitely be renewing my season pass if they have more episodes like the season finale. Good job guys, I knew you could do it!
When I watched this on-air last season, I thought it was one of the best, if not the best, show that USA has come up with so far. The chemistry between Wes and Travis is fun to watch, and each character is likable in his own right. Hated to hear that USA had canceled this one before giving it a real chance to capture its audience..
I don't normally do comedy-comedies. I rarely find them funny, but this show surpassed my expectations. I loved every moment. The chemistry between the characters was good and I thought they were very well acted. Really wish there were more episodes. That said, though, the series finale was perfect in itself. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase.
This was a really fun show, and Michael Ealy especially is appealing. But both characters have their charms, and the partnership is immensely entertaining. What a shame that USA didn't hang onto this one.
If you want to laugh, this is a great show for it. I laughed all the way through. They are partners in Robbery/Homicide together, who used to get along. For some reason they don't anymore. One did something to the other, so their captain sent them to couples therapy. Not sure if it's working or not but it's funny to watch and see.
