I attended a gluten free baking class that Amy taught last Spring. I take cooking classes fairly regularly and I have to say that it was my favorite; Amy is extremely knowledgable and it shines throughout her book. I purchased her book and have used several of the recipes. Her 'flour' recipe alone is worth purchasing this book! Absolutely fantastic. I actually made 3 of the desserts for a bridal shower and all 40 women RAVED about the recipes. They couldn't believe their ears when I told them that they were gluten and dairy free desserts! I hope to see another book from Amy in the future!
I love this cookbook! I use Amy's flour blend for all my gluten free baking. My favorites from her cookbook are her cornbread, foccacia, and fruit crisp recipe. I like that this cookbook has sweets and savory items.
As a recent gluten free family, Amy's cookbook was invaluable. The recipes are delicious, easy to follow, and use what I already have in my cupboard. I was able to use Amy's recipe for a gluten free flour mixture as a substitute for all purpose flour in all my favorite recipes and the results were wonderful. This cookbook has made going gluten free easy and I would recommend it to anyone who is removing gluten from their diet as well as to anyone who enjoys cooking. I will be giving this book as a Christmas gift to many members of my family. It is a great and necessary addition to any kitchen.
If you are just starting your foray into gluten free cooking, then this is the cookbook for you. Easy to make and delicious recipes, a great flour blend recipe, and many flavor and allergen alternative options make this worth the buy. I have been gluten free for a few years now and love this cookbook. The pancakes are amazing!
The Warm Kitchen has become one of my very favorite cookbooks! It's beautifully produced with great photos, clear instructions, and helpful background information. Most importantly, every recipe I've tried has been terrific! The yeast and quick bread results have been exceptional (which is so exciting for those of us who have been on the gluten-free journey for a long time). Each success spurs me on to try more. The Warm Kitchen has given me delicious gluten-free options to serve my family. Highly recommended!
An exceptional cookbook with delicious recipes & practical ways to cook for those with gluten intolerance & other food allergies. Recipes that are enjoyed by anyone (those without food restrictions). An excellent resource, beautifully done, which serves as a significant encouragement for one's kitchen!
every recipe is great - you wouldn't even think about the fact that its GF when you eat it - more like stand alone recipes than replacements for wheat flour - I highly suggest the cookbook to anyone even considering going GF and have actually given it to 4 of my friends. good quality book, has withstood a few drops to the floor mid cooking. Each recipe I've made has been delicious.
This is by far the best gluten-free cookbook I've seen - the recipes are delicious and do not taste like the usual gluten free meals, and Amy's instructions are crystal clear. I am a novice cook and find that her instructions are very easy to follow. But the book is written so that a more experienced cook can skip steps that a novice (like me) really need to have explained. Besides the great recipes, she explains other basic cooking steps, such as how to cook chicken or how to brown beef or make sauces. Of course an experienced cook already knows this, but she writes these steps as separate sections, so it's easy to skip them if you want to. She also has sections specifically designed for gluten free cooking, such as substitutions for common gluten ingredients. She is also conscious of other dietary restrictions, such as the requirements for dairy free meals, and explains how to avoid using those products. This might seem like a silly comment, but I really appreciate having pictures of the meals as they are prepared. It makes it much easier to get an idea of what the meal should look like as I go through each step of the preparation. The only complaint I have is that most of the recipes (IMO) use too much salt. I halve the amount of salt in the instructions and it comes out perfect.
