Brian went away and became successful, while Carly merely survived. I ft for her. Her silence was broken in an unexpected way. There were a number of twists that kept me guessing. A secret revealed that leads to so many hurt feelings.
I liked Brian and Carly, but I didn't get into their love story as much as I was interested in the crimes that took place and the threats to Carly. It worked better as a suspense thriller than the romance for me. There were some erotic sex scenes in the story.
I have read other books by this author, including the terrific Gansett Island series. This was well-written. Good for readers who like suspense and murder mysteries in police procedural.
The Wreck is a compelling story of deep love; the kind of soul love we women dream of having and don't all get in our lives. There is love, loss, sadness, pain. Everything is in this book. Everything real-life brings to us is here. This book is deeply emotional. It made me cry more than once. Emotional writing does this to me and rarely do I cry when reading a story. This is where Marie Force excels. She can write emotions; she can make the read FEEL what the characters are feeling.
This book is reminds me of Danielle Steels writing; NOT identical by any means but Marie's style has that same emotional edge. Marie has her own style however; it's her stamp of excellence.
I recommend this story as highly as I can any. It's a wonderful read. Be prepared to drop a few tears.
Loved Brian. Thought he persevered over all the tragedy that befell him. Not only losing his brother and gang of friends but essentially the woman he loved. To see him pick up the pieces and become successful was really pleasing.
The only flaw in the story that made it a little unbelievable was with Carly and Brian at the cabin with the stalker...the actions she takes to get them out of the situation were a little far fetched but hey thats why its called fiction.
Still a fantastic read and highly reccommend to everyone.
