A good introduction to multiphase flow

I found this book to be very useful as background reading on multiphase flow. I concentrated on the sections explaining gas-liquid and liquid-liquid systems in pipes, and found a reasonably comprehensive study of flow patterns and pressure drop behaviour, given the data available at the time.
Among its strengths are extensive and detailed diagrams showing flow pattern behaviour at different superficial velocities and with different volume fractions for gas-liquid and liquid-liquid systems, detailed working out of equations shown, a comprehensive review of available correlations and charts of variable behaviour and relationships.
However, in my opinion, it lacks sound theoretical explanation for observed phenomena in some parts, perhaps expecting previous knowledge on the part of the reader. For example, in the section on pressure drop behaviour with varying water fraction in an oil-water system there is no explanation, in terms of fluid properties or the role of drops, of the behaviour observed. Further, perhaps due to the approach at that time, there is a tendency to use a generic model for different systems, e.g. stating that a general gas-liquid model or equation could be used for a liquid-liquid system provided viscosity is not significant, which I found questionable. As mentioned, this could be due more to the approach at the time rather than a failing on the part of the text.
Overall, a solid and systematic introduction to multiphase flow.
