Describe your product in 3 words.
Simple. Safe. Fun.
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
It was high time we needed a product that worked not only as an amazing daily eye-wear but also as equally amazing 'hands-free' recording device that felt more like a part of yourself than an unnecessary appendage. With increasing number of accidents involving hand-held cameras and smartphones every passing year, we needed a product that empowered you to capture images or record videos by demanding the least of your attention - be it physical or mental. With the vision to fuse a practical solution with a design that that was not restricted to a single eye-wear, we conceived the Theia PRO.
What makes your product special?
Not only does the Theia PRO make your every day life more convenient and fun, but it also makes it safe - something we highly compromise on in this era of technology. This is one of those rare products which demands the least of your attention while letting you record everything hands-free. What more? Recording with the Theia PRO is as simple as looking at something instead of you having to manoeuvre the recording device point to point!
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
It has to be the smiles you come across when people using this product realize how much of a necessity it actually is and the disbelief as to how we had been putting up without something this beautiful and amazing for so long. The Theia PRO is the first step to revolutionizing the way we use cameras in our daily life and we are sure the future holds many more amazing iterations of this great piece of technology.

He is not particularly impressed by these for a number of reasons. The camera itself is not very good. 3 mp with a small sensor (and lens). You also can not control many camera features and what you can control is via the app. He thought that too was poor implementation. If you need to use a tablet or phone to control it, it is not hands-free, and additionally, the use of the device as a viewfinder means you will be photographing your tablet or phone... and as long as you are holding your camera or phone, why not just use that? (it probably has a better camera). I am hoping to be able to attach a photo as a demonstration of quality issues. There is barrel distortion, blur (because the shutter is not very fast) and the color balance is not very good, and can not be adjusted except via post production (photoshop e.g.).
As one who has some experience designing and building mobile cameras (for his HS robotics team, which went to the FRC world championships). He thought it was just bad design to have the on/ off button and function button the same. It would be quite easy to turn off the glasses changing from still pictures to video. Neither of us can figure out why we got a message that the (32g) sd card was full after 1 photo.
The build quality is not very good. The glasses it is mounted on are about the quality of those $5 sunglasses sold on the street. They do, however make my son look like he stepped out of a 1950s scifi movie (and if he would allow me to post a picture I would, but he won't ;) The camera also got pretty hot while in use (after just a few minutes). That does not bode well for longevity.
In sum, the camera is not very good. The implementation is not very good, and the need for a tablet or phone (to use as a viewfinder *and* to adjust/ control the camera) means it is not really hands-free, and what is more you are likely holding a better camera in your phone or tablet. Price taken into account, my son thought 2 stars might be a bit high. At this price point you can get some pretty decent little cameras (speaking as one with 2 Panasonics with Leica lenses, which together cost less than this).
In sum the gimmick factor is greater than the utility. A low quality camera with poorly designed interface.
The video is fantastic it is 1080 by default but you can download the application on your phone and change it to 720 at 30 frames per second or 720 at 60 frames per second unfortunately it does crop the original 1080 image when it's on 720. I gave it 4 stars only because I have one well maybe two grapes one gripe is the battery life you can use it for maybe 20 minutes and that's about it II gripe is that it only record in 3 minutes increments other than that it's fantastic. I would recommend it for anybody who wants to log short trips in the car or as a dash cam. By the way the low light isn't too bad either. I also love e the wireless feature.
