"THEN AGAIN is a captivating tale that delves into the ethereal aspects of quantum physics and Native American spirituality to set the stage for an examination of the emotional challenges and unpredictable consequences of attempting to rewrite the past. Though scientifically speculative, the novel tells an eminently believable, near-future story that chronicles the multiple lives of singer/songwriter Rix Vaughn as he undergoes a bizarre experiment in parallel-universe manipulation." - Hack Taylor, Editor of Reviews, Bleepthem.com
From the Author
The story behind Then Again
evolved from my years asa musician and my intimate knowledge of the pop music culture. From my earlyteens through my late twenties I worked as a guitarist, keyboard player, andvocalist, playing in several rock bands and as a studio musician. I laterbecame a singer/songwriter, and delved into record producing with limitedsuccess. The impetus for writing the novel stemmed from imagining what it wouldbe like to live my life over again while retaining all my accumulated wisdomand experience. In contemplating the possibilities and changes I might make ifgiven such an opportunity, I soon realized that it would be far more complexand perilous than I had originally thought, and I became fascinated withattempting to extrapolate all the pitfalls and problems I would encounter.
Written in three parts (Now,Then
, and Then Again
), the novelcenters on three main characters: Rix Vaughn, an aging, drug-ravaged, alcoholicsinger/songwriter nearing the end of a less-than-illustrious career; HeyokaHusereau D'Ailleboust, a world renowned particle physicist and Native Americanspiritual adept; and Aurélie, a brilliant mathematician who serves as Rix's spiritualand scientific mentor.
Though a bit offbeat and somewhat humorous in tone, thestory is a serious one that incorporates a variety of emotional, psychological andsociopolitical topics, as well as an in-depth examination of what is known asthe "butterfly effect"--that is, how everything we do in life has consequencesfar beyond what most of us could imagine.
