For something that was supposed to be a steamy read before bed, I didn't expect to get the level of honest emotion and substance that the author managed to convey in this story. The despair, the hurt everything came of so well and it made the sex seem like a natural progression, unlike those stories where you know the author is just adding words until he can get everyone naked.
soo... here is my problem.. I get caught up in this girl's life. I'm invested in whether or not she's gonna run away, attempt another suicide whatever.. I'm waiting to see what pain Cyril suffers, and what meaningful advice he has to impart to keep her from the brink (now, at this point I've forgotten that there is supposed to be sex in this story) and then i get stuck on ...
"he was at least 2 and a half feet taller than her height of 5'2"
ummm... cyril is a 7'8 inch Greek God... My brain spent so much time trying to process this that I lost the groove of the story. Yes, i know i am a OCD nitpicky kind of reader. can't help it my logic centers never turn off, but I think that was just a bit out of the realm of reality for the story. So yeah, it might be considered a cheap reason to take a star away but I like being honest and maybe the author didn't even realise how tall he was going with that sentence.
the second sticking point for me came later when, after all my anticipation of learning Cyril's pain, i find out his problem is a huge ****... simply size... not "my last girl practically abused me of raping her"... not "my wife died of hemoragging after a lively sex session and even though the truth is it was from a burst appendix, i still blame this accursed humongous tool".. nothing more in depth than "it's too big". I felt like the author cheated me on Cyril's story.
all in all though, I loved the writing, love Red Phoenix, have read a bit of your stuff and will continue to.
