The main female charater magically just "knew" things she coundnt possibly know. There was no real grasp of time or even distance. Traveling from the north territory to the south territory took minutes it seemed instead of hours.
I guessed the ending chapters before. I would never read another in this series.
The Tureis have invaded Earth and are abducting humans so that they can experiment on them and do all kinds of other terrible things to the humans that they have found, including selling them as slaves. However, that's not what is happening to Catalina and Alan. The Tureis have decided that they want to have little human babies for their own reasons. Because of that, they are doing everything they can to breed the two humans. That generally involves taking them separately into medical exam rooms and doing things to them.
Catalina and Alan are deeply bonded. They share a room, they comfort each other, and they help the other survive. They love each other, but as siblings and not in a romantic way.
When the ship is attacked, Catalina and Alan are saved by the Curazin. After a few days with them, Alan decides that he will stay with them because he is searching for his sister, and the Curazin will help them. Catalina decides that she will go live on Curaz. Curaz is in dire need of women. Their birth rate is around 1 woman for every 100 men, which means that their species is dying. Humans are likely compatible with the Curazin and they will be able to make babies. Curaz is a safe place for Catalina to live, especially since the Curazin don't know where Earth is, so she can't get back there.
Theon is part of the Royal Clan of the Southern Clan. He lives on the topside, where the sun shines and wind blows, while many others choose to live underground. Catalina decides that she is going to live topside and runs into Theon who thinks that she is pretty awesome. Sidenote, she is. They fall in with each other, and good things happen.
I really like the Azziarin series, so I was excited to read this one. I was not disappointed. It is an excellent start to a new series. I think it's a little darker than the Azzirain series, but that's not a terrible thing. There are some bad things that happen to Catalina during this story and some not really nice people show up. However, some good people show up too, like Theon. My favorite part is that Catalina is a really strong woman and even when she thinks that she is going to break down, she manages to keep going. Theon is a pretty good guy, but he needs to have his behind kicked sometimes. Luckily, I'm pretty sure that Catalina is just the person to do it. I can't wait to see where this series is going and what Hannah Davenport is going to give us next. I'm hoping we're going to see a lot more of Curaz and get to check in on Catalina and Theon.
