“With this book, Gabriel Cousens, MD, takes his place among the world's leading physician-healers. A synthesis of his thirty-five years of clinical experience, There Is a Cure for Diabetes presents a practical, comprehensive, and highly effective holistic approach for treating and curing one of our most common diseases. It is the greatest contribution to the treatment of diabetes I've encountered in the forty years since I began my medical training.”
—Dr. Rob Ivker, DO, ABHM, co-founder and past president of the American Board of Holistic Medicine and author of Sinus Survival
“Gabriel Cousens, MD, has clearly established himself as the world's leading medical authority on diabetes. His Tree of Life program is proven to completely reverse Type-2 diabetes and markedly improve the condition of those suffering from Type-1 diabetes.”
—David Wolfe, author of Eating for Beauty and The Sunfood Diet Success System and founder of Sunfood Nutrition and The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation
“There is abundant evidence that people with even long-standing diabetes can improve their health dramatically—and practically reverse their condition. Gabriel Cousens, MD, shows you how to tackle this disease through lifestyle intervention, explaining how a low-fat, vegan diet could save your life. There Is a Cure for Diabetes is an extraordinary tool that will guide you in your journey to fight diabetes and regain your health.”
—Neal Barnard, MD, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
“As a doctor who has treated diabetes for nearly thirty years, I can tell you with certainty that the standard medical protocols and management of this illness are not only inappropriate, they’re absurd. In sharp contrast, Gabriel Cousens, MD, has developed a protocol for successfully restoring the health and well-being of diabetics, sparing them the pain and agony of unnecessary and inevitable amputations, obesity, blindness, and premature death. If followed, his advice in There Is a Cure for Diabetes provides diabetics freedom from their illness and enriches the quality of their lives.”
—Daniel Nuchovich, MD, director of Jupiter Gardens Medical Center and Jupiter Institute of the Healing Arts
"The beauty of Gabriel's work is that he's not just putting forward an interesting theory—the people he's cured of diabetes are living proof that it works. The truths in [There is a Cure for Diabetes] go behind diabetes—they're a sensible lifestyle choice for all human beings."
—The Mother magazine
"There is a Cure for Diabetes: The Tree of Life 21-Day+ Program by Gabriel Cousens, M.D., prescribes fasting and a low glycemic, low insulin scoring diet."
"Massively packed with information and references to studies and other scientific papers that can make your head spin. [Cousens'] years of tireless scientific research for the living foods community is a precious gift for those of us seeking a much healthier lifestyle. All in all, There Is A Cure For Diabetes is an excellent book for a raw foodist library."
—Raw Food Right Now!
"Gabriel Cousens’ book, There is a Cure for Diabetes: The Tree of Life 21-Day+ Program, is a comprehensive guide—not to living with diabetes but for learning how to live without it. It is, as the author explains, about embracing a culture of life rather than a culture of death. In reading this book, do not expect an approach of moderate changes to your lifestyle—adding this, or subtracting that—this is about total physical and spiritual transformation."

before i start eating what is recommended, my BG is 180 fasting and over 240 after meal.
Now its at 80-90 (3 weeks into eating 80% raw) and after meal highest is 145's (big cooked veggies meal) and went down to 100's in 2 hour
Yea, I still eat some cooked vegetables. But I try..
Also exercise 5 days a week 1 hour on average per session. Only lost 8 lbs but saw major improvement.
Also I am not obese or overweight to begin with. only 20lbs above normal weight.
only meds I took is metformin 2x a day 500mg
That also will be lowered soon as doctor is monitoring me to wait for 1 more month and notice the improvement.
Hopefully she let me take off the meds soon.
I bought the DVD recommended from amazon.
it's about $5 cheaper than the author website, go find "simply raw dvd" in amazon
I think it's worth it.
If anyone want advice on their diabetes, you can shoot me an email:
I read: 4-5 books on reversing diabetes, research on other alternatives including surgery. And currently on this diet myself.
some book allow fish and chicken. But hey, why don't just do what all the books give green light? heheh
good book :)
and the DVD is inspirational as well.
More importantly, she explains how glucose works - or doesn't- better than anyone else I've read, including Mr. Cousins. After struggling with Cousins' book, to understand diabetes, I think I understood it far better in 2 pages from Ms. Somers. Reading-and understanding- glucose intolerance is a must for anyone living in the USA today, whereever you get the information.
I found this book well-written, well-structured and easy to follow. The biological science of the whole diabetes process is thoroughly researched and written, and every suggestion is justified most persuasively. The diet is basically a vegan diet - probably a shock to the system of most type II sufferers, but one feels willing to try, the writer is so very confident of his results.
If I were to have any criticism, is that for the lay person, the science behind it all got a bit tedious. A large part of the book was taken up with every physiological detail, and eventually one wishes he would get on with it and cut to the chase - what are we supposed to DO?
Even so, this is a worthwhile book. I shall refer to it more than once.
In my opinion you does not clearly know when should you not take more insulin, but it is a very good book, you can find excellent advice and reasons why they can work, you just have to get down to work.
It is highly recommend it and could save you from the ravages of the disease, I think is a very good alternative and you must keep in mind that you must change your diet to change your life, like say once "you are what you eat", you could then be a healthy person eating healthy, here you can read how and what supplements and foods are best and why.
