The book started as a 5 star novel then plummeted to what u c above. Such an anticlimactic ending, which was a let down after all that suspense and build up around Jude's character. I loved Jude in the beginning but towards the middle and end its like I was reading about a different character the author did a total 180 on his character. And Jude telling Cory his real name served absolutely no purpose to the plot or character development it could have been left out. Jeez such anticipation that just led to a real disappointing book. Ps the editing could have been much better.

OMG! What a mind numbingly boring snoozer. It was just constant sexual tension and no communication. That covers about 95% of the book. The whole true/false question was so lame. It was always one step forward, two steps back. The ending was so anticlimactic. It's like why bother? The pacing is glacial to the point where I started skipping chunks cause there was nothing interesting happening. There were grammar problems riddling the book. This thing should have been professionally edited and proofread. If this writer was going to try to write m/m, she should have sent her script to an m/m writer for feedback like Josh Lanyon or Kaje Harper who are excellent authors of the m/m genre. Or even read "Man, Oh, Man: Writing m/m fiction" which gives great insight on how to write this genre. Skip this book and save your money. If you are into m/m check out Josh Lanyon, Kaje Harper and James Buchanan to name a few. They are excellent m/m writers. I'm putting her on my list of Do Not Buy until she moves from amateur writer.

Minor spoilers alert!

He stood up suddenly and his hand darted out for me to grab.
He led me down the hall and as soon as I spotted his bed, my heart climbed its way to my throat.
“I still want…” he said, backing me up against the door, his hip pinning mine in place. I liked this Jude–the same Jude I fantasized about dominating me, the same assertive voice he used on my table at Raw Ink and at the quarry. “I want you to touch me all over. To show me what it could be like to have something…”
“Jude– ”
He placed his finger over my lips. “Don’t. I know what I want. And I want you. I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted somebody more.”

I loved this 5th installment in the Between Breaths series! Author, Christina Leealways delivers a fantastic story and this time was no different. Standalone series have become my preferred series type, and I always love when the series regular characters (Bennett, Jessie, Nate & Emmy) interact during the featured couple’s novel.

5 Fantastic Elements that really worked for me:
1. The angst! I sympathized with Cory tons as he worked through his escalating attraction to the British, mysterious and sexy as hell Jude.

2. I loved Cory’s unique True or False approach to peeling back the layers that surrounded Jude and how that process in turn led Cory to his newly found appreciation for the silence he experienced in Jude’s presence.

3. I loved their kissing scenes, swoon! I’m a sucker for lots of kissing so I was over the moon each time Cory and Jude locked lips.

4. Of course, their sex scenes paid off in spades and had me all kinds of hot and bothered. Thank you very much!

5.

It was kind of difficult to read for quite a while. It seemed to drag along so much, with all the back and forth, push and pull with Jude and Cory, over and over again. Finally there was some forward motion and information dribbled out. There were some hot sex scenes and the ending had a little bit of excitement but it was all in the background. I've only been reading M/M, so the secondary characters were probably fleshed out more and perhaps I would have liked it more in the context of the prior books. But it just didn't flow smoothly and didn't really resonate for me. I prefer when a story engages my emotions and makes me empathize with the characters more.

This is SUCH a beautiful tender love story. I didn't know what exactly to expect, I actually read the synopsis now.. meaning JUST before writing this review and only so I"ll know how much can I say without spoilering ;) I LOVED it, loved everything about it. It was emotional without being over emotional, it was angsty yet it didn't feel angsty at all because every emotion expressed was placed just right. The only thing I can somehow complain about is we only got Cory's POV and I would have loved getting Jude's POV especially since all the mystery was from his end, not only his past but what and how he felt toward Cory.

Cory Easton is a tattoo artist at "Raw Ink". We already met a few of the people who work there - Jessie (from "Promise Me This") and Bennett (from "All of You") but also Dex and Emmy who were side characters in "Promise Me This". Cory seems like an easy going guy, hangs with his friends and have fun with them, talks a lot and generally seems a happy person. Yet he isn't. He lost a lot in his rather short life, leaving his grandmother who raised him the only close person he has. Yet he rather keep it cool and not show his heart ache to the out side world. He doesn't even speak about his ex-boyfriend who died in a motorcycle accident and left his heart shattered.

Jude York is the opposite, he is new in town and while he doesn't really speak the rumors follows him around. Any one of the rumors is bad, portraying him as a criminal and it doesn't help that he hangs with the local Motorcycle club who is known to have shady businesses. When he comes to "Raw Ink" asking for Cory to tattoo him he drives Cory MAD.
