He quotes the 18th century English preacher John Wesley, “I am a spirit come from God, and returning to God: just hovering over the great gulf; till, a few moments hence, I am no more seen; I drop into an unchangeable eternity! I want to know one thing—the way to heaven; how to land safe on that happy shore.”
Dr. Lohrstorfer makes the essential point as expressed by the Apostle Peter and the author of Hebrews that we are living life as pilgrims on a journey, a pilgrimage, continually on the move; we are present in this world with one eye looking toward the future, heavenward. “If heaven is to someday be your home, then today you should embrace its principles, patterns, and power.”
I’ve known Chris Lohrstorfer a long time, am familiar with his theology, his teaching, his preaching, and his writing abilities, so I was not surprised that in this delightful book, Chris lays out the upward call and inner drawing to Heaven, the transformative effect of the journey, the “way to Heaven,” what The Way means for us, and what do we do while we wait, all in a style of writing that anyone can understand.
This book would be an excellent source for a Bible study. In fact, I hope to use it as a study for my adult Sunday School class, as a brief and interesting break from the normal curriculum.
Thank you, Chris Lohrstorfer, for this book, written “For all those who are on the journey to Heaven.”
Dr. Lohrstorfer has several examples comparing "Wizard of Oz" to a Christian walk.
Highly recommend this book to everyone, and especially to a friend going through a loss of a loved one.
