The main problem with the mattress is of course size, it is definitely only for car camping. One thing I did not consider before buying it is that these mattresses should be stored flat with the valves open (hence inflated). This was never a problem with my little thin mattress, I just put it behind the couch or under the bed, but since the Luxury mat is 3" thick two of them behind the couch is not so ideal. Make sure you have a suitable space to store it before you buy! If you don't store it like that the memory foam will not self inflate and will likely not be as comfortable with time.
PROS: Super comfortable, warm, durability (if it holds up like my old one)
CONS: Packed size, storing space requirement
Thermarest Trail-scout (Regular) - 630g R3.4
Thermarest NeoAir XTherm MAX (Large) - 650g R5.7
Thermarest LuxuryMap (Large) - 1900g R7
The trail-scout I will probably not use again. It is very thin, small, and not comfortable but it is absolutely warm enough for three seasons. The NeoAir XTherm is undoubtedly the best of the bunch and also the most pricy. Very comfortable, very light, durable, and WARM. It inflates very thick and is probably the best/most useful mat you could get. I have used it to sleep on snow without issue.
Now the LuxuryMap is quite excellent. It has all the comfort (maybe more) and warmth of the NeoAir XTherm while being much cheaper. It has a memory foam topper. The differences are obvious. It is very heavy and packs very large. This is a car camping mat. It feels a lot less durable than the NeoAir and would be harder to clean. It is however half the price of the NeoAir XTherm, and for car camping use it is ideal.
Summary: Fantastic car-camping mat that approaches bed-at-home comfort. If you want something that you may use later for backpacking or just want something lighter or more durable get the NeoAir XTherm for similar comfort and warmth.
Note that it (like any air mattress as opposed to a foam one) provides practically no temp insulation, so I got much colder than expected - so use a good sleeping bag if you're out in the cold.
