And I'm very happy with this one. Here's the deal. It's the usual combo fan/heatsync, with a three pin connector (if you need to know that kind of thing.) What I like about it is how it connects to the motherboard. The fan comes with a frame that fits on the back of the motherboard, with four short metal tubes (one on each corner of the frame) that fit through the holes in the motherboard that you'd usually use to hook the fan up with. The fan then screws into these tubes. The result is that the fan really can't come off.
Downside? The only downside of this approach is that you will have to remove your motherboard completely from your computer to fit it. That's a little bit of a pain, but in my view it's worth it.
I wholeheartedly recommend this fan.
This device should be put on every CPU fan designers desk to remind them that the job of designing a CPU fan can be done simply and effectively.
Comes with pre-installed heat sink paste so you just add the backplate onto the MB (the backplate has threaded metal inserts built in that go through the motherboard but not over the top of it), make sure the CPU is clean and set properly, and just screw the fan down. It doesn't get any better than this and I haven't seen anything on the market that beats it in terms of solid, assured, and quick easy installation. I have a whole slew of Intel CPU fans with broken plastic tabs, something which isn't going to happen with this CPU fan.

Whoever designed this fan should get an award.
This cooler attaches to the motherboard using four bolts that screw into a backplate that goes on the underside of the mobo. Attaching this cooler to the mobo was much less frustrating than twisting those plastic bolts on the stock cooler until they snap in place, and the cooler is definitely on there nice and tightly when you're done.
The only problem I had was that I needed to completely remove my mobo from the case in order to get the backplate into position, which required some minor surgery/component pulling. Not a huge deal, it only added a few minutes to the process, and it was worth the effort to have the fan bolted securely to the board.
Otherwise, this fan is more or less indistinguishable from the stock cooler. Similar in size and look, and I suspect it performs similarly. No complaints here!
Re: power connector - this fan does have a 3-pin connector (instead of the 4-pin connector on the stock cooler), but I connected it to the 4-pin CPU FAN slot on my mobo (there were grooves on the pin and power slot to help determine which pins to use and which one to skip) and it works fine. The instruction sheet also specifically mentions that the extra pin can be ignored. Maybe this can be a problem with other motherboards, but it wasn't an issue with mine.

Good CPU cooler unit. Quiet and effective. I was pleasantly surprised. The mechanics of its mounting worked better than I expected. Temperature readings afterward were OK.Published 18 days ago by Frank_A
Easy to install, perfect fit and smooth, quiet cooling. This heat sink and fan is perfect for my old file server build after my old heat sink and fan broke.Published 28 days ago by Laurie
Perfect replacement for a broken HP p6240f with an Intel Core 2 Quad. The original fan mount breaks (research this online and it is common) so I needed a cheap and quick fix. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Andrew R Koch
