Computer Power Supplies (PSUs) have come a very long way in the last couple of years. In fact, in the last 6 to 12 months there have been extraordinary improvements in the "efficiency" of these units, and these recent efficiency improvements have become quite the rage. However, solid design and high-quality components never go out of style. And that describes this Thermaltake "Spedo" Edition 850W PSU. Of particular note is the array of extra-long modular cables that are included with these "Spedo" series PSUs.

I have a couple of CoolerMaster ATCS 840 Super Tower Server cases and these 850W Spedo PSUs with their long cables are just the ticket to route the cables (even behind the motherboard) to every nook and cranny of these huge cases. So, if you're going to build a BIG tower PC and need a quality PSU with plenty of juice to power a bunch of hard drives, etc, this is the answer.

However, there is a sad side to this product review. It seems that Thermaltake may have "discontinued" the Spedo series of PSUs, and therefore these units may be the last of their kind. That is a serious marketing and product production mistake by Thermaltake if indeed the Spedo series has hit the dirt. So, here's an open plea to Thermaltake: RETHINK YOUR DECISION TO DISCONTINUE THE "SPEDO" SERIES OF PSUs!!!

The quality and heftiness of the latest PSUs from Thermaltake do not compare with the original ToughPower XT PSUs that they produced. I invite anyone to just pick up an original ToughPower XT PSU and then pick up any of the latest offerings from Thermaltake. The difference in quality and heavy duty components will become instantly obvious - clearly in favor of the original ToughPower XT units.
