It lights up when you open it, which is a plus if Q-ing in the dark or deep shade. Of course, simply closing it shuts it off. I think it is accurate, but I am no pro, and do not have a calibration tool. ...but in general, I think it works great for the price. I also like when closed you cannot really stab yourself or someone else with it that is a plus if you are a bit of a clutz. keep safe all 'food safety' and 'sharp spikey' things both.
...Oh it has magnets on the back side to hold it to a cold part of your Q leg or side table++

I was visiting my sister over Thanksgiving, and she has this thermometer. I liked it so much I ordered one and it just arrived! It is so easy to use and as the picture shows, it is accurate. I am comparing it to my light/ceiling fan remote, and since they are consistent, with both reaching the exact same temperature, I have to say that it is accurate enough! The box says Accuracy +/- 0.9° F.The thermometer reads from -58° F to 572° F! (-52 degrees F? I suppose this would be good for measuring the temperature in any climate, ha ha!)It comes with a little Phillips screwdriver and the AAA battery, and it’s very easy to open and install. The thermometer is sturdy and well-made, and is very easy to use. It fits nicely in the hand, and is easy to clean.I can see other uses for this thermometer in addition to the meat, fish, and other temperature sensitive foods it was made for. As an example, I was curious, and put the 4.3” probe under my arm to see if it would accurately read my body temperature. Lo and behold, it did! Gotta love it!😄I really like this thermometer! I think you will too.
