I actually think it's more convienent than dealing with the black water tank in the camper. When it's full I just take it to the nearest restroom and pour it in the toilet. I do wish it sat a little higher off the ground, that the lid was strong enough to sit on, and the indicator that shows that its full is diffiuclt to see.

vent button assembly

The spring and vent button exterior pieces of the vent button assembly were lying loose on top of the vent on the waste holding tank and the interior rubber seal had fallen into the tank. An inspection of the rubber seal revealed the worn connecting piece on the right of the photo which snaps through the tank vent from the inside into the spring loaded button which is pushed to vent the tank when emptying, possibly occurring during a faulty install by not lining up the pieces correctly. When I attempted to put it back together it was obvious that only one side was secure hazarding a leaking vent from an improper seal. I have ordered a replacement part for $15.99 including shipping and if all does not go well, I will be returning the product.

I had a fairly old Thetford. It was at least 20-25yrs old and used for about 4 years it until it started to leak, from "normal use". It was somewhat smaller although it held the same amount. The seat lid on this one is somewhat bigger, which I don't need but I can appreciate the extra size of it anyway and it's much more stylish & appears to be sealed and better built than the older one. I have yet to smell anything fowl as long as I use the product liquid disinfectant it came with. I only use it at night or on camping trips. I chose the smaller bottom vs the larger for ease in carrying. I definately recommend it over any other make.

Camping is a great way to get away from sequestering at home. The distance in campgrounds makes it a perfect pastime, but there are common places, those infamous pit toilets being the worst. The Thetford 345 almost eliminat es that encounter, you have one of these in camp and dump it down the pit toilet once or twice only in a whole week. Small, odourless, convenient in the rain or middle of the night. And virus free. I wish I had one of these along years ago! Totally self isolated with a water cube from home. Coleman stove, and a portapott.
Great add to my camping gear, great improvement in sanitation and convenience.

Cette petite toilette de Thetford Porta Potti model 345 est fabriqué avec des matériaux de grande qualité et selon moi très robuste mais pour certaine personne le problème serais plus à l’accès car une toilette domestique standard de type régulier offre une ouverture de 9 " (23cm) de large et 10,5" (26.5cm) de profond à une hauteur de 16" (41cm) et un model de type confort allongé offre une ouverture de 9" (23cm) de large et 12" (30.5cm) de profond à une hauteur de 18" (45.5cm) mais la Prorta Potti345 offre une ouverture de 8" (20.5cm) de large et 10,5" (26,5cm) de profond à une hauteur de seulement de 13" (33cm). Mesure approximative!

I have a small, no bathroom, travel trailer. Rather than purchase a large, heavy trailer to get a toilet I bought this Porta Potti. Just used it for the first time for 4 nights. What a wonderful difference at night, which is the only time I use it. Easy to set up, no smell. I only use it for urine. Easy to empty in the campground bathroom. It might be a little difficult to empty if used for #2. I think 4 nights might be the maximum. It's a little tricky to set up and take apart at first.
