(You can only write this stuff if you have had the ups and downs that business and life can bring you) Most people call that experience and Marc has plenty of that to share. Love the book, Thanks
Read it twice already, took notes and keep coming back to review specific chapters. Highly recommended.
Although I can’t claim to know Marc personally, I did get to spend the weekend with him in San Diego at Darren Hardy’s first high-performance forum back in 2012. Marc is a down to earth, humble, witty, seasoned professional. I could see the person I met that weekend come to life as I read his book.
As soon as I began reading, I couldn’t wait to devour the entire book as quickly as possible because it was that great. It’s packed w/such valuable content, so the one thing that slowed me down was re-reading certain sections and taking notes so I could record many of his priceless ideas.
I read 30 to 40 books a year and this is truly a winner in my book. I will be reading it a again in the near future. I highly & happily recommend this book to everyone. As you’ll see, Marc’s ideas and strategies can be implemented by anyone that is trying to increase the value they provide to their company, team, staff, clients, and self. You don’t necessarily have to be a leader to benefit from this book. You may be paying your dues & coming up through the ranks, or planning to go out on your own. There’s plenty of great advice here for everyone.
I love your idea in the front of the book to capture the ONE memorable action item that made a difference for the reader. That really helped me focus on finding that ONE thing, so I thank you. By the way, that ONE thing for me is that no one pays for perfection; it's never rewarded. Get your product or service to 85% and then go to market! Improve it as you get feedback and keep learning & improving. Your example about your software company really put that into perspective for me. Thank You! And your Q&A was a great summary.
Marc, thank you for sharing all of your experience and wisdom w/us! Continued success…
Mr. Sparks has a way about him that makes building up & flipping dozens of businesses almost seem easy. Forget any glitz and glamour, he gets down to simple, brass tacks strategy that any entrepreneur can apply in their lives. Really his principles could be used by almost anyone wanting to improve professionally (and personally).
I get the feel that Mr. Sparks wrote this book without an agenda in mind. Many other authors use their books as launching points into other ventures they hope you take part in. But the feel I got with They Can't Eat You is a genuine look into how Mr. Sparks has been successful and why he'll continue to be in the future. Do your future self a favor & pick this one up. You'll finish it less than a week later and thankful you did.
If I am going to learn something about starting and/or running a business who can I learn from better than someone that has done it over 60 times and has had great success.
I like how easy to read is this book and I enjoy and learn from the short and to the point comparisons between the "Orthodox Path" and the "Sparks Path" of doing things.
I highly recommend this book and I am grateful to Mark Sparks not only for writing it but for the great help and support that he gives to organizations such as the Samaritan Inn
