About the author

Sam Sorbo is an education freedom advocate. A successful Hollywood film actor (Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist), producer, and writer, Sam took a step back from her career to homeschool the Sorbos' three small children, and realized that there is more to education than the schools accomplish or even address, these days. She launched School’s Out with Sam Sorbo on EpochTV, hosts The Sam Sorbo Show weekly on YouTube, radio, and podcast, and has written numerous articles and books on education. Most recently, she launched the Underground Education platform to help parents emancipate their families from modern schooling and produced "The Playbook for Home Learning," a 15-video training for parents. Fluent in five languages, Sam speaks internationally on how to “Educate... differently.” "True Faith" is her third collaboration with husband, Kevin Sorbo.

Her description of how she began this adventure, and what it meant for her own sense of self as well as her children's self regard is one of the most interesting and inspiring parts of the book. I loved the stories of how classes were designed, materials were selected, and children learned to flourish in this very well thought out process. While at first it was trial and error, learning what work seemed to be part of the fun.
I would definitely suggest reading this book as there is something very touching and warm hearted about how open the author is about her experiences.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of a clear thesis, many grammatical errors, and a very disjointed flow in the second half of the book -- I just cannot give it 5-stars. While starting off fairly strong and solid, I had to really slog through starting at mid-point. Serious editing of the book is needed. As a 16th year, homeschool mom of five, I will, however, still happily recommend it to those who are thinking about homeschooling, or who have homeschooled for less than two years. It is an encouraging message that needs to be heard. Thank you, Mrs. Sorbo!
Sam helps readers who may be considering the Homeschool process, to realize the options are almost endless-- AND- that parents are not impotent in their ability to perform this task.
We as adults can learn to interest ourselves in things that may not have initially seemed appealing (or even possible), and we'll often find that rising to this challenge for the sake of our children reaps benefits on multiple levels. Nothing worth doing is ever easy, but with the right tools Homeschooling is "a worthwhile endeavor" and it "pays enormous dividends in the end."
My daughter and I enjoyed reading Sam's book after having Homeschooled for 4 years. We found his book while actually completing the publication of our own Mother-Daughter Homeschool Book: Thanks But I'll Teach My Own Kid. A New Generation of Fearless Homeschooler. Parenting is key and Sam provides a unique look at what parenting means from the perspective of a Homeschool Family. He takes you through the bureaucratic red-tape of the educational institutions today, leading you out of the 'lion's den' and into fuller awareness of your parental potential. He helps shed light on the rewards of this very privileged post.
Though our own approach to Homeschooling is distinct from the one Sam's family has chosen--he provides an open-minded look at the options, including his perspective on the positive impact Maria Montessori has had on Education. It goes to show that ultimately we are all working towards the goal of equipping our children with the ability to "satisfy their innate love of learning" and not have that hindered by negative institutional practices. Sam provides tremendous points to ponder and discuss as a family with Innovative Thinking and positive guidance.
Thank you Sam. We appreciated this read! -Jennifer and Ella C. Lopez TheJennieration.com
