I loved the fact I got to read inside the mind of Beverly (Thing 15) before, during and after the kidnapping/murder.
I was just hoping there was going to be more involvement with the haunting of Jimmie and if she would finally get the justice she deserves.
Honestly, it took me 3 days to read (which is rare for me) because it just continued with her thoughts and I kept falling asleep.
The book is pretty good, just wasn't on my absolute favorites list. I will still be reading from this author. (LOVED "Alters", another side story to "Just Things")
Beverly Watkins was Jimmie's Thing Fifteen and I was eager to get to know her better and watch her as she got a form of revenge on Jimmie. I liked the format of how her story was written. It was a perfect blend of past and present, thoughts and deeds. She became Karma at its finest.
I was very engaged by the multiple story strands happening simultaniously. I loved finding all of the connections to other Erin Lee books and characters. It's an added treat to these already awesome stories. This one gets very intertwined with the Escape from Reality series and its characters. I really enjoyed the overlap.
Beverly's feelings in the epilogue were quite haunting. They were fitting in many ways and added even more depth to her character.
The Diary of a Serial Killer Series was phenomenal. I really became immersed in the characters and their thoughts and feelings. It was very powerful and thought-provoking, while both entertaining and causing me to constantly look over my shoulder and be suspicious of strange people that I might meet.
I am very much looking forward to what Erin Lee will write about next.
Beverly Watkins was a victim of the infamous Ice Cream Man serial killer. After she was murdered, she was kept in the freezer for his amusement. He called her Thing 15. He finally thawed her out right before he turned himself in and ate some of her, feeding the rest of her to his dog.
They never found her body, her mom thinks she's still alive. The rest of the world just thinks of her as a victim of this horrible man. But there is much more to her than that.
This is her story of what really happened.
This was such a good book and an ingenious addition to the series. It is very engaging and wonderful to read her point of view. In too many books, the victims are just victims. It was refreshing to see things her way. I highly recommend this series and this book!
