I didn't care much for Nick in the first book, but he redeemed himself in this one. I did not get any sense of his playboy ways in this book. I know it was referenced a few times. That was strange because it was supposed to be a big part of his personality.
I was ambivalent regarding my feelings for Raina's character.
I always thought her character was supposed to be a strong female lead. That's the way she seemed in the first book. I didn't get a sense of that person until the very end, when she walked in Nick 's office.
I'm not sure what purpose it served for Raina to meet her father in this book. It didn't seem to be a particularly important aspect of the storyline.
I can only assume the writer softened both characters personalities because of the infertility issue. I think what was missing for me was not having a real sense of who Nick and Raina were as people. I had an idea of their characters based solely on the first book, which helped while reading this one. Had I not read the first book, I am not sure how I would have rated this one.
This wasn't a bad book, and I can't say that it was unrealistic. People have done stranger things. I always thought that part of the joy of reading fiction, especially romance fiction, was that it takes you away from your reality for a while.
I do like Alexander series, it's nice when you don't have to read the back stories with every single character because we know them from other books. The back story of Nick and Raina is the only thing that needed to be developed more.

I had to push myself to finish it. I think it could have been so much better but I just felt the book was rushed and the characters felt static, there wasn't a lot of development to believe Raina's sudden change in beliefs about Nicolas and love itself.
I am now reading book no. 4 and prefer this a lot more than no. 1 and 2.
