☆☆☆☆☆ - Can't Help Falling In Love 1993
A new to me author. Cute. I read this book first. the description of the scene with the greasy cheeseburger really pulled me in. I love that the author took a situation that sucks and gave it some humor. The romance was cute and sweet. Each character was well developed, which is hard to pull off in stories this length I enjoyed this story a lot. The only thing I would have liked was to have the subplot given a little more attention. The part of her ex was good, up until the end when a lot of info was sprung at once... then forgotten almost immediately. If this book goes solo, I would love to see more done with the ex as it has the potential to add a lot to the story.
I will be looking for more by this author in the future!
☆☆☆☆☆ - Always be my baby 1996
I adore all Mary Ting's books, and this was no exception. This book was well written and pulled me in from the start. I loved the spunk Cammy had from the start. All characters were well developed, prose that pulls you in, and adds a touch of the 90s perfectly that fits naturally with the dialogue. The ending, gah! I loved it, it was so sweet!
☆☆ - Genie in a Bottle 1999
I'm a HUGE Elise Kova fan, I adored everything out of her first series and I like her second series, so I expected to love this story. I adored the premise. The first thing was ... it didn't read as an Elise Kova book. It felt like someone tried to ghost write it and just couldn't pull off the signature voice of the author. Story wise: The main character kept telling us she was smart, but never once showed us. (A SIMPLE solution to her problem was just way over her head and had to be given to her by a side character.) The family dynamic was weird for the first half, like she was trying to keep it a secret to make this big reveal in the middle, but the first half was just weird. I think in an anthology of Romance, I expected a little more than the rushed ending we got that wasn't an HEA or even a HFN - it was a "Maybe happy someday but probably not." The end was rushed, and it felt like a cop out and so unlike the usual work of this author.

Katie M. John is a new to me author. But I only read a few pages of this book, but with "fecking" every other word, I just couldn't get far. I don't mind swearing and this wasn't exactly that. It just came across as an overused tick way too early in the book. Though, part might have just been the author's style not being a style I enjoy reading. I would still give this author another try with a different book.
There were 2 stories that stood out to me as stories that I wanted A LOT More of, and I hope the authors decide to continue with these characters. The first one is My Heart Will Go On by Tia Silverthorne Bach, a contemporary romance. Lucy melted my heart from the very beginning. The tragedy she had to endure and her strength to continue really drew me to her. I wanted so badly to fix her and see her find true joy. What a beautiful character and the story...omg so touching. The author definitely gave me the feels. Please Ms. Bach I WANT MORE!
The second story Genie in a Bottle by Elise Kova, a paranormal romance. This was such a cool story! Imagine buying a used N64 game and finding you have a genie that comes out to grant you 3 wishes AND he's smoking hot! Sold, right? This story knocked me on my butt. When I got to the end I was seriously yelling and I wanted to throw my iPad across the room, BUT what an ending.
Whether you like contemporary or paranormal, this anthology will have something for you. Plus a percentage of sales goes to the National Kidney Foundation. It's a win/win.
When I first heard of this piece, I was excited. Being a 90s kid, of course I wanted to read it. Then I saw that it had a pretty good list of authors. Some that I have heard of, some I have read, and some that were completely new to me. This just intrigued me even more.
So, I have been reading a story from this book between other books that I have read. I am over halfway through the anthology and am simply blown away by the talent that was put into these stories. I have not been bored or read a story that I haven't liked.
In fact, I usually wait until I am 100% done with a book before I review it, but this book has been so amazing, I just couldn't wait any longer and wanted to share with everyone else.
I highly recommend this anthology! It is perfect for anyone who is from the 90s, anyone who loves short stories, or anyone who loves to read in general! I promise you will not even be close to disappointed!
