Editorial Reviews

Review

These 10 Things books are excellent resources for adult education, introducing key themes of the Pope's teachings. Their pocket-size format makes them inviting--good for catechists and a great resource for any type of adult education in the parish, including small faith-study groups and interfaith efforts. Some readers will be motivated to go further, to read the original documents, like Laudato Si', homilies, and discourses that each book explains.--Dan Pierson"founder of eCatechist.com and faithAlivebooks.com and former diocesan director of religious education" (05/14/2016)

I like John Allen's writing, so I'm favorably disposed toward almost anything he write, this ebook included.

The chapters in the book describe the Pope's take on major issues and his attitudes which shape his positions. The book is not a deeply insightful analysis but rather a human interest piece. It provides insight to the Pope's style of leadership and his personality. If you are familiar with the human interest pieces on the Pope that have flooded the media, the book holds no surprises, though it is well written and a pleasure to read.

My only complaint is that the ebook costs $2.99 but it is so short! If you want a bit of depth, it would make more sense to pay a few dollars more and get "On Heaven and Earth" by Pope Francis. There is greater depth and a lot more material from the Pope himself.

This is not a book about 10 things Pope Francis wants you to know, but actually a book about far more than 10 things that the author wants you to know about Pope Francis, or just that the author wants you to know period. The writing is also slightly stream of consciousness, so if you are impatient with books where the author goes off on tangents, this one isn't for you.

When the book discusses things that Pope Francis says or does, it leaves out crucial context, so you could get the wrong impression about his beliefs just due to lack of information.

Unless you missed the announcement, we have a pope, not just white smoke but a real pope. Not just a pope
But a Jesuit pope, not just a pope but a person who is pope, a real person, someone who puts people first.
If this doesn't do it for you then don't read the book because it won't help, or read every book you can find
About him, if you do you will get it, or better yet watch his actions, remember actions speak louder than words
And his actions will quietly shake the globe.

A book for Roman Catholics and all Christians. If you would like to know more about Pope Francis this book is a MUST. There is a reason why the new Pope chose the name Francis. In addition, the book partially reveals Pope Francis' theology and illustrates His faith. Easy read - for the faith community, seminarians, as well for experienced priests.

Short and sweet. The best read if you want to know Pope Francis more in terms of his life and his opinions on a whole range of topics including Argentinian politics, state/future of the church, sinning and forgiving etc., I would still recommend Pope Francis: His Life in His Words. Detailed and based from interviews with him when he was still a cardinal. Extremely credible, insightful and overall delightful. :)

This book is perfect for my needs. I don't want a book that explains his history. I want something that tells me the basics of who he is. It is concise and to the point.

It was a clear and easy read. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a well rounded summary of a humble priest that just happens to be the leader of our faith. There is no confusion as to what's to be the direction of his ministry. He wishes to begin at the beginning. Read it, it's clear.

Short, to the point, unforgettable

An insight to a Leader for All People

If we all had his perspective, we'd treat each other and ourselves with more respect and PEACE might actually be at hand.
