About the Author
Clarence B. Franke (1912 - 1981), The Witnessing Cowboy, moved as a boy in 1919 to his father's ranch west of Uvalde TX. He grew up there as a cowboy, ranching and farming. In 1947 he moved his young family to a smaller farm and ranch closer to Uvalde and lived there the rest of his life. Franke spent much of his time expressing himself in poetry dealing with the two main influences in his life: his religious beliefs and his love for the ranching lifestyle. He self-published two books of poetry, typing, scanning, printing by mimeograph, and binding the volumes by hand. The Things I Tell You Are Honestly True recounts in rhyme, many events from his life which illustrate and teach his love and trust in a gracious God who called him to faith in Jesus, his Savior, and guided him throughout his life. From the Foreword: In this book I have tried to help you see some of the interesting things that happen in our lives, but the greatest joy and appreciation is derived from what we see with the eyes of faith. It is great to be able to look back at the end of the day, or a week, or a year, and see how our lives were guided by events. Sometimes we feel that the going is tough, and the school is hard; but that is the time for us to sit up and pay attention. It is the Shepherd wanting to prepare us for a greater potential and a faith that will give us peace with God.
