What finally convinced me to take the time to write the review (and shamefully admit having read this thing) was what I noticed when I went back and read other people's reviews. I'll get back to this later. But first I'll tell you why I purchased this in the first place.
I am not an avid reader of self-help or New Agey spirituality books. But occasionally I'll get into a little rut in life and I've found that reading books in those genres can be helpful in snapping me out my funk. Some that I have enjoyed are "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," "The Power of Now," "The Four Agreements," etc. Generally books that have seen great success before I ever get around to reading them. And because those books have been so successful by the time I get around to buying and reading them, I generally take for granted that they must be well-written and effectively convey some universal truths and essential wisdom.
I don't go in expecting a total life-changer. In fact, having read a good number of books like this, I've found that many of them are essentially saying the same thing. But each author has his or her own unique way of conveying their message. So, even though I may get no totally fresh insights from a new book, many times an author will say something that I already know, but express it in a way that makes me feel as though I'm hearing it again for the first time. It can be refreshing and, as I've said, it can be very helpful in lifting my mood from time to time.Read more ›
These BS bulk 4 and 5-star reviews come from online "review services" who get paid money 5k to hype products. It is shameful and I wish Amazon and other companies would do a better job of detecting and policing the practice.
What kind of problems? Well, this book looks into many behaviors that might be affecting us such as anger, worrying, and even gossiping! I found the main value in this book was getting us to think about how our daily life choices affect the way we live and the negative patterns that most of us have been unknowingly practicing.
