I started photographing a lot of more portraits and clubbing photography work and I needed some sort of bag that I could put around my waist and witch out my prime lenses easily. This bag solved all my problems! All I had to purchase in addition to this speed changer back was the Think Tank Photo Pro Speed Beltª V2.0 - S-M I'm a 31-32 waist and the Small/Medium belt fits great!
When using this think tank photo speed changer bag for portrait work, I'm able to easily to switch out between 3 lenses in a matter of seconds, while also being able to have access to batteries and other accessories that I put in the pack. It beats having to use a backpack to carry my lenses and extra equipment. This is definitely minimalism at its finest! Best of all, when using this setup, I no longer have to use my backpack, which means less weight on my back and shoulders! For portraits, I'm able to switch out between a 50mm f/1.4 lens, 85mm f/1.8 lens, and 24mm f/1.8 lens. For even more less weight, I remove the lens hoods of these lenses and don't even try to place them on. Sometimes I'm okay with lens flare in my photos.
Furthermore, I've been photographing at clubs around Los Angeles and it's almost impossible to place one's backpack somewhere, go shoot for a bit, and then go back to the backpack where you left it and change lenses or access other gear. This Think Tank Photo bag changes ALL of that. All I have to do is reach down to my waist and there, boom, just like that, I'm ready to access my other lenses. For nightlife photography, I'm able to switch out between my 85mm f/1.8, 24mm f/1.8, and 20mm f/1.8. The 20mm is for when I need those super wide photos. However, I seldom use it because of the distortion that follows it.
You'll love this Think Tank Photo Speed Changer bag! Trust me, it's the greatest thing you'll ever invest in if you do outdoor portraits or nightlife work.
Just take note that there is no way that you're going to fit a 24-70mm or 70-200mm in this think tank speed changer bag. For those larger zoom lenses, you'll definitely need a different lens holder.
Hope this review was helpful to you fellow photographers! Cheers.
The Speed Changer bag as two large compartment areas with one having 3 dividers attached with Velcro to make 4 sections, another compartment with sewn in pockets and a strap with clip for attaching a card storage case, and one out zip pocket. For lots of small items that would be bouncing around in a large camera bag this small bag is a perfect companion case. Great for cleaning items, filters, a spare body, small lenses (50mm size), and other miscellaneous bits of gear so that they are easily found when in the field.
It also attaches to the Think Tank and other web belts and will work wherever there is 8 inches of space. Anyone who is in doubt as to whether it will fit with their setup should use a tape measure to check before ordering - not too high tech for most to do. 7 inches in height and depth of 4 inches does not provide a great deal of cubic storage but it is a good size for use on a belt where it will not restrict the mobility of the wearer.
note that if you have a lot of weigh with multiple Think Tank Lens Changers you really do need to have the harness add-on.
