This thing is......well, it's pure evil. Be very careful who you choose to prank and where you choose to hide this device. I placed it on top of the ceiling fan in my dining room and my roommate was about to tear our fridge apart thinking it was malfunctioning. Similar but more destructive results were obtained from hiding it in my friend's apartment. This thing WILL make people go crazy - and after they go crazy they will destroy everything in an attempt to find the source. I would not recommend placing this anywhere near electronic devices unless you want said device destroyed and a its owner very angry with you. I love it.

Really, can't recommend this device enough. It came in perfect condition and was securely packaged. Just be aware that the innocuous little device you hold in your hand will break the sanity of even the most strong willed.

I got one of these- I previously had used the annoy-a-tron 1.0 with great success, so I knew what to expect... or so I thought. This one has cricket sound. I put this in my office, where I worked nights at the time. It was in there for one day and people were losing their minds. I had one guy moving everything in the office looking for the damn cricket that MUST have been somewhere on the shelf. The device can't be predicted (as far as timing), making it especially difficult to locate since most people aren't willing to sit there waiting to hear the sound again, especially when they think it is a cricket. This is awesome. I love it. I will buy more of these some day when I need to stir up the office again!

I bought this product to play a prank on a buddy of mine. I entered his house one day while he and his wife were both away. After scouring through the house I decided the best place to put it is on their bed frame. The magnet is pretty strong and it held very well. For the sound, I went first with the highest pitched tone at a medium volume level. My friends' wife could hear it but my friend couldn't! I guess his hearing was not able to decipher that high of a tone. That made for a hilarious exchange the next day that I witnessed between the two of them. I then decided to sneak into their bedroom to change the tone to the lower pitch.

I found out the next day that he of course heard it that time and had removed every piece of furniture and every item from the bedroom. What was funny to me was that he had to wait until the next tone to know if he got it or not. After having nothing left in the bedroom but the frame itself, he resorted to just having to live with it. He thought it sounded like an electronic device losing it's battery that may have fallen down a vent. He then picked up the bedframe to shake it and the annoy-a-tron came loose at last. He didn't think it was a prank, though, because it just resembles a circuit board. The next day he brought it to me wanting to know what I thought it was. He of course figured it out when I couldn't stop laughing!

Awesome prank if you find a good place to put it. The bedframe is perfect because of the magnet and also because people typically sleep in the dead quiet so they will for sure hear it.

I purchased an Annoy-a-tron 2.0 for my 14y/o son’s Christmas stocking. He has a wry sense of humor but has not heretofore been much of a prankster, which I believe makes him an excellent new “owner” of such a device as he isn’t likely to be anyone’s first suspect. When the A2.0 arrived three weeks ago I tested it out for two days in “cricket” mode in the family room. Everyone was convinced that we had brought in an insect with the Christmas tree, although no one could find it. I thought the one potential give-away was that our cats were totally disinterested in the chirps—normally they would hunt any small critter that gets into the house. The efficacy of the device proven, I turned it off and put it away…until last night (Christmas eve). I hid it in my older son’s bedroom, and this morning he reported searching all over for “that darn cricket”. When the device later turned up in younger son’s stocking and he turned it on—eliciting a familiar “chirp”—all eyes flashed in recognition, and then the whole family began laughing.

The device is pretty bare-bones in construction, and I wouldn’t expect it to be particularly durable if it is subjected to a lot of shock while someone attempts to locate “that infernal noise”. But I found that it works as advertised, with a choice of sounds, decent volume control, and quite strong magnets. (It held tenaciously to a small table-leaf hinge during the first pilot test described above.) I suggest that, for the price, the A2.0 might reasonably be considered a one-time-use device for really deep pranks wherein your own plausible deniability demands that you never revisit the scene. For lighter deployments, especially within your own home or workplace, you may be able to execute multiple pranks as long as the battery lasts.

This little gizmo is amazing! I hid this in a teachers desk and the whole class went crazy looking for it. After a few days I came clean and was immediately suspended. Overall great little device, but be careful how you use it!
