Great product, exactly what you need for a Lenovo T-series "S" model at half the price

I ordered a Lenovo T-430s, which is the slimmer T series vs. the T-430, which means to add a secondary hard drive to the ultrabay, you need the 9.5mm bay adapter and NOT the 12.7mm one. This product fits perfectly, and the finish is very high quality, like an OEM part. The HDD fits very snugly in the caddy itself. Lenovo told me they were sold out of the part for 7 months, so I bought this, and it was half the price of what I would have paid to Lenovo. Furthermore, an unexpected bonus that was a really nice touch was that it arrived with a soft case to store my optical drive, which I can now keep in my computer bag in case I need it. The item also arrived earlier than was projected.

There was one small problem, but don't freak out if this happens to you: When I tried to push the caddy in the first time, it stopped about an inch out and wouldn't go all the way in. I closely compared it to my optical drive and the problem was the little plastic latch on the caddy had been screwed on backwards. I unscrewed it, put it on correctly and everything was fine. It seemed like an honest assembly mistake that took 10 seconds to fix, and given the high quality of the product, it didn't bother me at all.

This is a very nice HDD Caddy. The drive fits snugly and securely within the slot and the whole component slides into the laptop effortlessly. The overall build quality is superb. I used this to expand the storage on my T420s and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to do the same. In the future, I will seek out Newmodeus for a similar product, if the need arrises.

No Screws!!!!

No screws! It works great but they didn't include the hard drive screws. You might say "Those should come with the hard drive" and normally I'd agree with you, but this case needs somewhat rare screws that have an extremely tiny head on them. If you use standard hard drive screws the caddy won't slide into your laptop. So, it's working fine but my hard drive is not screwed into the caddy. I'll have to hunt for these screws somewhere to secure it properly.

It is perfect fit for the T430s. It only comes with a small capacity SSD disk. As a result, I used to attach an external usb disk for the same purpose of providing extra disk space. This one is way more convenient. The bag coming with it is also a good storage for the DVD RW drive it replaced which I still use occasionally. The product description is very precise which allows me to find the 2.5inch one that fits perfectly. Despite the fact that the price is little high for just a case/converter, it is well designed and well manufactured.

This caddy worked great with my T430s and a solid-state drive. My only gripe is the LED is a bright blue and it blinks at completely random times. Including when the laptop is in hibernate mode. In my darkened office, it's bright enough to walk around from the LED alone. Simple fix to cover with electrical tape, but maybe try sourcing a dimmer LED next time.

Just what I needed. I replaced the T420s original harddrive with an SSD where I installed Linux Qubes. I kept the other drive where Windows 10 was installed, put it in the caddy. And the machine can boot from either or (using BIOS).

Same Quality as OEM Lenovo Ultrabay Caddy

I have the Lenovo T430s, and have been a Thinkpad owner for almost 20 years. One of the great benefits of the Thinkpad is their Ultrabay. I purchased a Samsung 256gb SSD to replace my 7200rpm 500gb hdd. Wow, the bump in speed is incredible. I opted for the far less expensive 256gb SSD because I knew that I could re-purpose my 500gb hdd in the Ultrabay.

When I purchased the SSD, I was about to order a USB to SATA cable and software for almost $40.00...obviously a one-time use situation. Then I thought of just buying the Ultrabay. So for about the same money, I have an Ultrabay that is used everyday. Great economics!

I looked around and saw many cheap pretenders. I saw the Lenovo OEM Ultrabay caddy, but the price was prohibitive. Then I found the Newmodeus on Amazon. I have to say, the quality is equal to better than the OEM Lenovo. Within 3 minutes of opening the box inserting and putting in the four screws, I was up and running.

I now keep many of my files and images on the Ultrabay HDD, along with DVD and Cloud backups. My Lenovo optical DVD/CD Drive now resides in the sweet nylon case that Newmodeus provided. A nice touch to be sure! When I travel I take the DVD drive just in case. But I also load movies on the SSD to conserve battery life, keeping them away from the battery hogging, whirring HDD.

The blue LED light is too bright and annoying. A dab of black paint did the trick. But that's my only complaint...and it's oh-so-minor. Congrats to Newmodeus for making a quality product selling for less than half the price of the OEM Lenovo.
