UPDATE
1. In scanning to see if my review had ever been posted to try to find out how to add this update, I couldn't help but read here and there and I saw a few snarky comments about "ALL the great reviews in October and November," of which mine was one. Interesting conspiracy theory, truly. But it's a bit overboard and unwarranted to take it as far as lamenting the dishonesty of Amazon peers ....like we're all posting fake reviews, or didn't actually pay for our products, or didn't really see any results. Not tryna overreact; just stating as 1 of the fans that I sure did pay full price for this product, not expecting anything I guess, but hoping.
2. I also noticed a lot of "smells good," "love the smell," etc and I got the paranoid feeling that I caused the smell-alanch too with my review. Probably not. But if so, sorry. I do still hate the smell, but I automatically breathe through my mouth now while I wash, and the smell goes away completely, to me. It's not SO bad, like tears-to-my-eyes-bad, but it's not the best. Looks ARE the best, though, and I guess I'm shallow cause that trumps smell. Anyway,
It's been a few weeks now and I just remembered to post an update. Since my hair had JUST begun falling out a few months before I started this shampoo (combined with a host of other changes), it's not visible from just looking at my hair that there is a difference....except that I still have hair! At the rate it was coming out, in big hunks just when I ran water through it, I was starting to panic. This might not sound major to some of you, but I took out a ponytail elastic after my workout today (so it was REALLY on there tight to last the entire sparring matches and getting socked in the face) and it slipped right off and NO.HAIR.CAME.OUT. I s&*$ you not. I have always had super long hair that I find everywhere, and have never ever ever ever taken out, or put in for that matter, a hair elastic or clip or anything without coming away with at least a few hairs that came off. So now I am certain of the "maybe it's working??" I have been wondering. At least for now. As I said, though, I am also taking (as always) a LOT of supplements, and especially increased my hair and nail formulas with biotin or keratin, etc. I also consistently use a host of Joico and Redken products for sealing the cuticle, protein, anti-snap and shine. Lots more treatments, lots more specific directions, but who knew my hair could look nice and girly? I am not a stylist, doctor or anything close, FYI, so my routine may be bollocks. As a boxer, though, I have made a career of studying, reading, closely monitoring all aspects of nutrition, supplements, health, wellness, etc.

As a boxer, though, I have made a career of studying, reading, closely monitoring all aspects of nutrition, supplements, health, wellness, etc.

In Oct-Dec 2017, I began losing ALARMING amounts of hair. So alarming that I had to be seen by my primary care physician (PCP) immediately. Running my hand through my long hair yielded a handful of loose hair from the root and it was scary seeing and experiencing it. For a while, I felt nearly bald—NOT a settling feeling for a healthy young woman.
In Jan 2018, my PCP evaluated me and got me referrals to see a dermatologist and endocrinologist to rule out any underlying medical issues. All lab results came back normal. Dermatologist asked if I had undergone any traumatic life event/stress months ago and sure enough I did. She took a random strand of my hair and looked at it under a microscope. She confirmed Telogen Effluvium, a condition where the hair follicle is in its resting stage from the root but will regrow in time. The reason I was losing so much hair was due to traumatic and stressful life events that occurred months ago. She did add that if the hair loss continues and I want to get to the bottom of the cause, I’d have the option of getting a biopsy of my scalp. Of course I did not want to have to resort to any biopsies.
It’s now Mar 2018. Though I had lost a lot of hair through Jan 2018, the hair loss has significantly decreased and I have begun seeing and feeling new hair growth from my scalp. I haven’t had a haircut in at least a year and walked into a salon today for a trim. My longest hairs that have not yet shed looked lifeless and dull, so I had about a foot of hair chopped off. The stylist says she sees a lot of new growth and the hairs closest to my scalp provides a lot of volume. This only provided confirmation that I wasn’t imagining the significant hair regrowth as I run my fingers through my scalp. My hair used to be flat up top because the weight and long length of my hair didn’t provide volume on top around the crown of my scalp. Now it actually has volume and I feel like I need to hold it down with a headband for some control without having to add unnecessary products to my clean healthy hair.
I’ve been using this shampoo daily since Jan (paid $26.75) and has lasted me 2 months (other than 5 days of travel where I didn’t take the bottle with me). In addition, I have also been taking EZ-Melts Biotin, Zinc, Iron, D3 and Multivitamins. Whatever combination of supplements and shampoo I’ve been using is helping my hair grow so I’m sticking to this routine! It’s a pleasant light citrusy scent, lathers well and doesn’t dry out my strands or scalp like others have mentioned. Pump definitely helps control the amount being dispensed each time.
I’ll be ordering my 2nd bottle this week, or as soon as the shampoo is back on stock, and continuing with my EZ-Melts supplements. *** 3/11/18 UPDATE: LIGHTNING DEAL AT $15.99/bottle, 1 deal per Amazon account = SCORE!!! *** I’ll be using this until my hair is full, long (lower hip) and luscious again, and at this rate—maybe 3 bottles in! I truly hope sharing my experience will help others decide if this may be a product you’ll want to try for yourself.
