Editorial Reviews

Review

  • 5 Stars Third Debt was just mind-boggling and blowing. I mean, what can't NOT happen? Pepper Winters just seems to go there right when and where you don't expect it to. --Kawehi Reviews
  • 5 Stars I am just beyond amazed on how good this book was. Hell..the whole series is just amazeballs and if you haven't read them, you are so missing out!! Missing out on such an original storyline, beautiful distinctive characters, and I am just so completely enthralled by Pepper. --Mommy is a Book Whore
  • 5 Stars Pepper never fails to put my emotions right on edge... Verging from love/hate happiness/heartbreak, tears of laughter/sadness.., she does it again... Keeps me on the edge of my seat from first page to the last! 5stars just don't give it justice... My reviews don't give it justice but once you have read it you will understand why I find it difficult to articulate myself well other than OMFG!! --Tamsin, Goodreads

I was disappointed in this book it started w promise and ended with morbid disappointment. I guess I seen it coming this writer has a fascination w sad endings and horrible out comes.i guess the take away can be peace in dying knowing you had some love twisted as it was still love.i mean at some point in this series it will have to end and I have to finish it bc I have to finish what I start but something tells me I can predict it though.

...and it didn't end with this fourth installment. I have lost interest in the story. I've never seen anything strung along so much. By the time I got to the end all I could say was "Who cares?" I am so tired of these writers stretching their stories across so many "books" when the story could easily be told and unfolded in less. I'm almost resigned to trilogies....but more than that becomes a scam for more money. In the end you spend twice as much money as you would if you bought a paperback. And shouldn't electronic media be far far less?!?!?

Well what can I say. Seems like she should just fall on her own dagger she has hidden. Because at this time Threads wont be able to live herself. I don't get how they just fell asleep knowing full well old daddy and grandma which are the cruelest people ever besides Daniel. I think either the writer has had a block because these people are rapists and murderers cameras all threw place. So I don't get it. These two characters have to be the stupidest people alive. Really not sure what way this series is going but all the humiliation on the character is really to much. If I was Threads I would have taken Cuts
mom out since she seems to be the one in control. This just drags on with debts.. I feel like I have paid the first one myself.

I Was really looking forward to reading this book. I loved the previous ones. The ending is so disappointing. I wont continue reading the series after this ending. It's to dark and it seams like every time Nila and Jethro have found a way to get close something happen. It's too much, not enjoying reading it anymore. The series is too dragged out and dramatic now. No more for me.

Call me crazy, but was this the same as the last two? Oh I love you. Now I hate you. Something bad happens. Explain explain explain. Oh I love you. Cliffhanger.

Can we seriously talk about why Kite doesn't just kill his family? Nothing is stopping him. And Nila is a weak character. She flip flops with her emotions and her stance on things and it's exhausting.

I have read everything Ms. Winters has published, some have made me laugh, others have made me scream in tears, but it seems like the further she goes down a sequel, the worse the stories become. I felt this was during the Monster series, thinking it was a fluke. I'd just spend my money and try another series by one of my favorite authors, but to no avail.

I really feel like this is being stretched out too far. We don't know how many debts there, how more books we will have to shell out for, and based on the author's other writings, there will be a happy-ish ending, with a bunch of repeat story lines before we get there.

I'm not saying don't read it, but just be forewarned that it's another cliffhanger and reads very similar to book 3...

I struggled with this one. It took me several chapters to get into it then it just lost my interest. Pepper I got bored!! It happens...especially when a series drags past three books. Sorry, I usually love your books.

“I’d given my heart to my enemy. I’d fallen. Fallen. Fallen. Hard. There was no bottom to my affection. No limit to what I would do to protect it.”

The battle between the Hawks and the Weavers continues in the fourth book of the Debt Inheritance Series, Third Debt. Pepper Winters continues to leave me an anxiety ridden, emotional wreck with this next installment. I never know where she is going to take me, or how she will leave me, but this last book left me confused, devastated, and wanting to toss my kindle at a wall. Hard.

Jethro Hawk remains torn, between his loyalty to his family, needing his father to be proud and accepting of him, and his love for the woman he is fated to kill. Nila Weaver is terrified, and desperately in love with the man who is fated to end her life. The irony is not lost on me, that both Jethro and Nila’s lives would be so much simpler if they had just accepted their roles in this crazy situation. But by falling in love they have complicated an already unfathomable situation, making their lives hell on earth. Nila and Jethro both love their families, but that love will not supersede the feelings they have for each other and they cannot be denied any longer.

“I’d done my utmost to be the perfect son, but I’d been fighting an unwinnable battle. No matter how much I wished I was like them-I wasn’t. And it was pointless to keep fighting.”

When we begin Nila is being dragged back to London, by some mysterious men sent by Vaughn to rescue her. But Nila does not want to be rescued, we know this, however at Jethro’s insistence she leaves, but far from happily. Nila is well aware of what may happen to Jethro now that his family is aware of their true feelings for one another.
