From the Back Cover
God is waiting for you in the desert
We've all been there: "dry seasons" when God feels distant and far away. But did you know that during the first three centuries of the church, many men and women purposefully moved into actual deserts to seek God? They understood something that we have missed: the desert is not a place of vast nothingness but a place where we can truly experience God's provision, restoration, and intimacy.
Through Scripture and personal stories of her own times of waiting and struggle, Allison Allen offers a fresh perspective for those who long to see God in their dry seasons. She shows how God can use these times in our lives to reveal himself to us, to give us rest, to get our attention, to show us our strength, to help us experience his blessings, and more.
"I love this book. It's an honest, refreshing look at the seasons in life when we wonder where God is. Allison reminds us that even when the ground feels dry, God is on the move."--Sheila Walsh, cohost of LIFE Today and author of It's Okay Not to Be Okay
"If you need a friend to encourage you onward, if you thirst for honest and divine insights for navigating this dry season, you've come to the right place. Soak in every word. You'll be refreshed and encouraged in the process."--Susie Larson, radio host, bestselling author, national speaker
"In my experience, the 'veil gets thinner' during desert seasons, allowing us to see God more clearly. My dear friend Allison expounds on that theme so beautifully in Thirsty for More that you may just find yourself longing for a little more sand in your life!"--Lisa Harper, bestselling author and Bible teacher

This book by Allison Allen is full of wisdom and raw honesty about the realities of desert seasons we all face, without exception, and the realities of Jesus who meets us there, without fail. I loved the mix of Allison's personal stories about her desert seasons and the bringing of Jesus and the living Word to shed light on the purpose, blessings and TRUE HOPE for these seasons. We can often feel alone or unusual in our desert experiences. This book reminds us that even though the specifics of our desert experiences differ, we ALL face them, and we don't need to shrink back or be afraid of these precious parts of our stories that the Lord is writing. I will be reading this book again and sharing it with others.

I am 69-years-old, a lifetime Christian, and have read more than my fair share of Christian "self-help/devotional" type books. I wasn't expecting to be especially moved by this particular book but was going to read it anyway. Some of my "dormant thoughts" have been awakened, and I've begun to see that even in my "latter-days-of-life desert season" — I still have a destiny. No matter your age or time of life, no matter the kind of desert you are in, "Thirsty for More" will lead you in discovering God's unexpected blessings in your desert.

We all have tough times- times we feel stressed or overwhelmed or alone. Maybe we wonder where God is- let’s be honest. When I’ve had tough seasons- big job change, life stress, etc. - my anointed friend and encourager, Allison (the Author), has always been someone I can talk with & listen to to help me have perspective on the tough place that I see myself in. She helps me to realize that this tough place is just a season and that maybe there is a blessing waiting for me here that I can’t even see, yet. She has encouraged me- with God’s truth from His Word & not fluff- out of some dark spots, relying on the Word of God and with her spiritual insight. Now, she has a book to capture that encouragement to share with you. You all need this book!! Can you tell I’m excited?!!😁
My friend is such a lover of God. He has anointed her to have great insight and to be a Storyteller who can help change your perspective on a situation just through one story. It is an incredible gift she has that she has used to bless many people through performing with Women of Faith and through co-writing many original plays here in Tennessee to tell new stories in a fresh way to reach and to bless people. Get the book and soak it in. I believe in it so much that I bought a copy for my Mom, my sister & one of my besties, too. You are in for a spiritual oasis.

Allison Allen's wonderful new book reminds every one of us that dry seasons WILL come but there's a purpose for each one of them. As Christians following in the footsteps of Jesus, we will, at some point in our walk with Him, follow Him into the desert. But, as Allison so beautifully shares, God allures us into the desert where we can experience deep intimacy with the lover of our souls. She reminds us the desert is where Jesus reveals, restores and releases the heart. I have been through my own desert seasons more than once, and it's the one place where God has been able to get my full attention and reveal what's in my heart. Your desert may seem dry and barren right now but let the words of this book show you just how bountifully it can bloom!

There are many times in life where we're seeking answers to questions of feeling dry, confused, alone and like God has forgotten us. Allison has the most incredible way of paining word pictures so you can see in your mind's eye what God is doing in these Desert Seasons. The words she carefully and tenderly writes gives verbiage around what many of us feel in those seasons in our lives where we just don't "feel" God's presence or "see" Him at work. But through scripture, Allison shows us, exactly where God is in those times. She's a master story teller that keeps you hanging onto every words as you turn the pages! This book is for you and everyone you know!!! It will be the gift that keeps on giving over and over again!

With an honesty that is refreshing and relatable, you read this and catch yourself nodding in agreement. Allison writes in a way that makes you feel as though you are sitting on her couch exchanging stories of mutual experiences. I am thankful for this book as encouragement to my own soul when the inevitable desert season strikes, but also for the incredible resource it will be to offer others in theirs.

As a Christian, dry seasons will come and they will look different for each one of us. But most of them will leave us wondering where God is. If he sees us. If he hears us. If we are being punished for not reading or praying enough. But it's just the opposite. Thirsty for More is Allison's personal journey through a dry season. Filled with the truth that God is walking alongside us and is closer than ever in the desert.

Desert precedes destiny. Rarely do we ask God to take us
through the desert. Yet, God does much of His shaping, His transformation, in the spiritual
desert.
"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness" – Matt 4:1a
This quote from the book says so much. We can't get to where God wants us without learning
and growing closer to Him. That usually requires us to go through something and i believe the desert is so adequate a
term for what we go through in our learning process.
God wants to use us to grow His Kingdom, but we have to experience some things about
ourselves and work them out first. If we want to show others the way we have to find our
way first. Thats a big part of what Allison shows us in “Thirsty For More". I know you will get something wonderful
out of it if you read it and listen to God speak to you.
