This is one of my new favorite books. I can't even tell you how much I loved it. I've been telling EVERYONE to read it - no lie.
Usually one of the two main characters bother me. Either the heroine is annoying or the hero's a jerk. I don't think I've liked both equally and so much in a story until this one. Seriously I had no complaints. They're adorable - trust me.
How many times did I legit LOL reading this? No idea. Lots. All. So much. How many times did I sign like a teenager girl and swoon over how perfect the romance was? Again, all.
To be fair - I did not read this entire series. Only two of them (This one and Three) sounded like I'd enjoy it but I enjoyed both so I might go back and read the others, not sure. So - knowing that I went into this story only having read one other in the series I can tell you I didn't feel lost at all and you can truly read this as a standalone.
Still not sure? How about this:
1.) Cheating? No not even a tiny bit. YAY!
2.) Cliffhanger? Nope!
3.) HEA (Happily Ever After)? Yes :)
4.) Violence? Nope, just a sweet little contemporary romance.
5.) Writing/Grammar? U.K./British slang alert - I love it and enjoy reading it but some readers don't and actually give bad reviews because of it. If that's you, back away from this book go learn about cultural diversity and come back a better person and enjoy the story.
6.) Sexual content? Vanilla, MF and super sweet but still hot. Enough sex to confirm there's truly as much they like about each other in the bedroom as they do out but not so much that I was skimming because it got repetitive or boring.
7.) Would I recommend this book to my friends? Are you kidding me? If you know me I already have!
8.) POV? Dual.
Can I just say it was the work of a genius and leave it at that?
I never really know what to say about ES Carter's 'Love by Numbers' books. I get completely engrossed and they hit me in the feels so hard that not only is my breath knocked out of me, so are all coherent thoughts. Thirteen was a little different than the first three books of the series, in that it was HILARIOUS. I was doubled over laughing at Harry and Lilah's antics.
I love Harry. He's been dealt a rough hand, which I learned about in Three, but it's explained again in Thirteen's blurb, so you can read this as a standalone. Throughout the series Harry had always been comical with a kind of loud 'I don't care who hears me because I'm hilarious' attitude. He always had a big smile on his face, found the humor in everything and was an all-around great guy. His close friendship with the Fox brothers just made him even more loveable. When he's hit with the knowledge that he has testicular cancer I felt such a loss. My poor Harry changed, not just physically, but emotionally. He was no longer my fun loving Harry. He was now the cute guy with the sad eyes using jokes to blanket over his true feelings.
So when Lilah entered the picture I was ecstatic!! I was willing her to save my poor Harry from the depths of depression. Who knew there was a female version of him out there? And so close! This girl was a bucketful of sunshine! Her shenanigans (yes shenanigans) were knee slapping, 'laughing out loud so hard, I almost peed myself' hysterical! She's a mischeivous little thing, but her heart is made of gold. And she has this sister...well that's a whole separate review. But Lilah has a secret.
I literally broke down and cried reading this book. I wasn't expecting to. I knew about Harry's cancer but I wasn't expecting certain other issues that arose and when they did...it hit really close to home. So what I thought was going to be a light funny read ended up having so much depth. More than I was prepared for. I loved it. Absolutely loved everything about this book from beginning to end. I fell in love with the characters, found them 100% relatable and perfectly imperfect. ES Carter captured my heart with this phenomanal story. I cannot wait to read more from her.
This is my favorite book in this series so far. I recommend this book...highly! You will love it! You will love Lilah from the the top of her head, to the end off AllyTastic, and Harry from his heart to his Davidson! Absolutely wonderful!
His is a story of friendship, challenge and survival as he faces the big C and trudges on through life trying to return to some sort of normalcy.
Enter the very witty, smart and beautiful Delilah who rattles his cage right from the beginning and who has her own set of impairments and challenges.
Theirs is a story of what it is to truly put yourself out there and trust and believe good things can come your way and you can deserve a happy ever after..............with all the feels and hope.
I absolutely LOVE Eli Carter and everything she has written, I am sure that you will love her amazing talent for writing wit, drama, love and heartbreak, but not necessarily in that order. Grab this story to read, you will not be disappointed!

I give this book 3.5 stars. The book started off a little cheesy, but it grows into a beautiful love story.Read more
