This book is all about life, choices and decisions. It is full of of fun and excitement. It is sad at times and gets better. By the time the book is over you are sad it is. I could read this series over and over and over till I die. This is the best series so far in 2014. If you want to understand it you have to read the whole series from start to finish. My opinion the title should have been would be The Amazing Story of Winifred Perry. It has more pizzazz. Lauren Myracle is a very talented person. This series is a story about a girl Winnie. She has a little brother and a older sister. The little one is Ty. The older one is Sandra. And soon to be Magnolia. Winnie goes through trouble with life and with the help of her friends Dinah and Cinnamon they have fun till high school. This book is for at least 11 year olds. I am one. Winnie is the average 14 year old girl. She thinks just like I do, only I'd never EVER admit it.
The book begins with Winnie turning fourteen, and she hopes her friends and boyfriend have some kind of trick up their sleeves. When they disappoint, Winnie doesn't know how to tell Lars what she really wanted. She decides to make a to-do list of things to do before high school.
Dinah gets suspended. She apparently let weird Mary put stolen makeup in her locker, but then she wouldn't take any of it back. Ty stole a penguin, so Sandra and Winnie take it back, when they run into a scary security guard. Winnie comes up with an entertaining story, and he lets them go.
Dinah's father is making her go to leadership camp. Winnie decides to go too, after finding out that Lars is going to Germany over the summer, making Cinnamon scowly.

I would recommend this book to all ages in middle school students and up. If you are a very cautious parent I would recommend that you read this book before your daughter reads it.

So I am a Mom of an 11 (going on 12 in a few weeks, going on what seems like 25 at most times) year old girl... she is a huge fan of Lauren Myracle's Winnie Years Series. Within the last couple of months she has read all of the first books in the series, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen. She loved them all! But when she asked for Thirteen Plus One I had some reservations. Although Winnie (the main character) is "growing up" within the series, my 11 yr old daughter has read all of them with in a couple of months and I'm not sure if the content would be appropriate for her at this stage. As it is some of the earlier books touched on subjects that were already unfamiliar to her (underage drinking at parties ... etc) ... our compromise was that I would read the book first, determine if and when she could read it. Well, I have to say that I read the entire book (not just skimmed through it, like I orginally planned) and enjoyed Myracle's writing style. The story picks up where Thirteen left off, and is basicly the story of what happens to Winnie and her friends when they go away to camp. But I was concerned with three parts in particular 1) one sub-charater in the book is shoplifting lots of make-up , even though she does get "caught" and punished ... 2) the girls in the book surfing the internet and coming across a website for teen nudist camp, and goes into describing that ALL parts were visible in pictures on the net (really, do I need my daughter knowing that she can search for this and see underage kids at nudist camp????) ... 3) the girls conversation regarding homosexuality (this is a topic that I would rather discuss with her at first) ... so to satisfy her desire to read the book, I taped index cards over the last 2 parts (I left the shoplifitng part in, since it was needed to understand the storyline) ... she has skipped over those parts and wasn't any less informed on what was happening in the story ... we were both happy and she really enjoyed the last book of the series.

I have always loved these books especially that you could visualize it in your mind. Also because this book really relates to a preteen or a teenager. I was sad when this book ended not because it was depressing or anything but because it was such a great book. I hope Lauren Myracle makes more of the Winnie series!
