I discovered Knight & Culverhouse first, (Adam Croft's other series of stories) and loved them so much I started on Kempston Hardwick expecting more of the same........I got some of the same - great writing, good prose, engaging characters and great plot lines - but I also got something different - a very different style of 'who dunnit' with a lead character who is very much in the here and now, but somehow conjures up feelings of an earlier era - the stories could easily be from Agatha Christie, (and in case you're wondering, that's a HUGE compliment in my book, I think she is the best writer of mysteries EVER)!! But I digress.....Kempston Hardwick is clever, well read, entertaining and long-suffering of his 'helpful' sidekick, Ellis - who often seems to hinder more than help. If you like a really good mystery, look no further!!!!
