About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Denise Grover Swank was born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in the area until she was nineteen. Then she became a nomadic gypsy, living in five cities, four states and ten houses over the course of ten years before she moved back to her roots. She speaks English and smattering of Spanish and Chinese which she learned through an intensive Nick Jr. immersion period. Her hobbies include witty Facebook comments (in own her mind) and dancing in her kitchen with her children. (Quite badly if you believe her offspring.) Hidden talents include the gift of justification and the ability to drink massive amounts of caffeine and still fall asleep within two minutes. Her lack of the sense of smell allows her to perform many unspeakable tasks. She has six children and hasn't lost her sanity. Or so she leads you to believe.

Shenanigans!

Thirty-Three and a Half Shenanigans was such a fast read for me! I enjoyed the pacing among all of the shenanigans involving Rose and Neely Kate. Two plots converged into one and were wrapped up in a nice bow very quickly at the end. However, the story was so laser-focused on the mystery at hand that much of the over-arching mysteries of the series took a back seat. I really want to see much more about Rose’s relationship with Violet, Rose’s mother’s history, Joe’s true intentions, and the mess with JR Simmons.

At one point Denise had me convinced that Mason had gone dark side. I enjoyed seeing Joe in action as the chief deputy, but wish there was more about his ‘partnership’ with Mason in taking down JR Simmons. I thoroughly enjoy Joe and Mason and their budding friendship. It’s begrudging right now, but there’s potential. They’ll be besties soon enough!! Meanwhile, Skeeter’s life on the darkside is quite topsy-turvy! I really feel like I have to root for that fella… he’s got flair. I’m sure Rose’s role as the Lady in Black will bite her in the behind soon enough. I really want to know who will find out first… Mason or Joe?! I’m not sure who would be more furious either, but I feel like it’ll be Joe.

I’m starting to feel there’s some ginger-hate going on given that TWO gingers (Hilary and Deputy Hoffstetter) have a major grudge for all things concerning Rose. Respect the red-heads! Unless they’re evil… which these two clearly are. :)

I want to say that Maeve is my MVP of this installment. She's sweet, she's observant, she's caring, and she's honest (as far as I can tell.) I love her!!

I’m still very satisfied with this installment of the Rose Gardner Mysteries! I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next novella and book! *****Five stars*****

Oh my stars and garters! Another great book in the Rose Gardner series! This series is one of my favorites and the characters are definitely the reason I love it. I love Rose. She has a huge heart and a desire to help people that gets her in all sorts of messes, but that doesn't stop her from helping people. I've binge read the series and anxiously awaited this latest installment and I was not disappointed. The characters have depth and feel like friends. I hated finishing this book because each book is like a visit with friends.

Another awesome book in this amazing series. Don't think any spoilers here but beware.

There were several story lines going on in this book. Some seemed to intertwine and others weren't clear yet. Will need next book I think to resolve several issues. Everything came crashing together at the end and I felt a little stunned thinking there must be another few chapters to tie something together but nope Denise left cliff hangers, again. Very interested in seeing what happens with Skeeter and also what Mason is up to. I have some theories but we will see what is going to happen in next book hopefully.

I was so glad to have Rose & Mason interact more than they did in 32. I was worrying about that before. I was also glad to see Joe coming around more to accepting Rose's choices. I still love Joe but Mason is better for Rose and Joe needs to resolve the issues with what his father and his threats. Loved the talk Rose & Joe had at the nursery. I think Rose is getting worse though with putting her life at risk. Neely Kate was somewhat tricking Rose into doing things and I didn't like seeing her do that. She is supposed to be Rose's friend. And then she yells at Rose for her involvement with Skeeter. I think Rose is safe with Skeeter as he seems to want to protect her at all costs. Neely Kate is acting more irrational than normal. Must be hormones lol. I loved seeing Lady in Black again. Don't know if Rose will admit this but I think she likes being Lady in Black. Don't like her sneaking around behind Mason's back though but this time he was keeping too much from Rose too. "Ongoing investigating" my butt he could have told her something vague to keep her from imagining the worst. Turns out the worst wasn't too far off from reality this time though.

The Rose Gardner series is so fun to read! She doesn't go looking for trouble, she just tries to help her friends and somehow that's where she ends up. With each new book you see Rose's big heart and determination. She stays true to herself and loyal to those she loves. And even her questionable choice are to benefit others. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

I guess "Shenanigans" is an accurate description of what goes on in this book. It's starting to get too silly. Rose just does stupid things now. And she's getting sloppy. This whole thing with Malcolm Skeeter is reckless and will undoubtedly come back to bite her (or maybe not, she gets out of everything). I just feel like she has the option to tell someone what is going on and get help. I think she's mistaking her pride for being strong and independent. There's always another option.

I still love both Joe and Mason and am starting to think they both can do better than Rose.

This was another great one. I just can't get over it all. First off I am still a little shocked over the news in the end of the last book but it seems will, have to get to that later. Rose and Mason are still together (sadly to me lol, no offense to Mason) Not much is going on until Nelly Kate asks Rose to help her find her cousin that is missing. Of course there is still a few other things that come her way, like Skeeter Malcom, and someone wanting Mason dead. Rose tells Bruce Wayne that her one time thing with Skeeter was her last, but Bruce Wayne doesn't believe it. He ask Rose does she really believe that's it, that Skeeter wont want something else from her? Now that he knows her secret gift that she has. Bruce Wayne says he's not a man to mess with or be involved with, and that hes now worried for Rose. He says that he feels bad that he got her into her meeting with Skeeter in the first place. Of course Bruce Wayne is right, there is only a matter of time before Skeeter comes a calling. Of course there's so much drama going around with Rose, trying to work out and mend things with her sister along with trying to get her landscaping business side of the nursery up and running with Bruce Wayne, not to mention her little daily adventures with Nelly Kate trying to find out about Nelly Kate's missing cousin along with her worry's of Masons life being in danger. All through the book you can also see how Joe worries about Rose and her safety still. You know he still cares for her and would love to have her back. Through out the book you also see Joe and Mason working together a little more in a nicer manner instead of at each others throats so much. And no they are not going to be best friends anytime soon.Read more ›
