Brittain has populated her novel with many fantastic creatures: demons, dragons, purple beasts that fly and and can carry humans, even mechanical automatons. My favorite character was the 'Cranky Saint,' whose remarks were delightfully quirky and funny. Readers who appreciated Tolkien's Lord of the Rings
and the fantasies of Terry Brooks should appreciate this series. --Ohioiana Quarterly
Like the others in the [Wizard of Yurt] series, this is essentially a standalone novel, but draws on all that came before. . . . Brittain makes it clear that in a world where demons, saints, and hell are all too real and verifiable, the ends don't justify the means, a touch of ethical meat in an otherwise light soufflé, full of likeable characters and some seriously funny - and touching - moments. --Locus
Contains humor, romance, and adventure--something for everyone! --Kliatt
About the Author
C. Dale Brittain is both a professor of medieval history and a fantasy writer, who has been writing stories since she was five years old. A high school trip to Europe with her family, that involved lots of climbing around castles, cemented her love for the Middle Ages, while reading JRR Tolkien at an impressionable age turned her into a fantasy writer.
