Top Customer Reviews
The story centers around a strong female lead character with no experience whatsoever with the BDSM lifestyle and who is unaware of what a D/s relationship consists of and an experienced male BDSM Dominant. It explains, in detail, what is involved in a D/s and even an M/s relationship and the power exchanges involved. Various terms are defined and the relationships are portrayed in terms that both beginners and experienced lifestylers can understand. In the storyline, both characters learn from each other about both the BDSM and vanilla worlds. It is a relatively short novel and is, in my opinion, an excellent choice for a first-time BDSM read.
I was even impressed by the proofreading quality of this novel. As I've stated in past reviews of not only Ms. Cartwright's e-books but other authors' e-books as well, the proofreading of e-books in general is not up to the standards of print books. However, I found absolutely no grammatical or spelling errors in this book which only added to my enjoyment of the novel.
I wish I had known about this book when I first started reading BDSM novels. As I stated above, it is the perfect first novel for someone just learning about BDSM and the lifestyle. I would highly recommend it for first-time and experienced BDSM readers.
The struggle Julia has with submitting seems realistic. She continues to believe that she wants a nice, vanilla man, until she realizes vanilla is another word for boring. I enjoyed this book, will recommend it and put it on my reread list.
So, to sum up, very detailed in the how too and the why for's, however not enough fun, laughter and romance for me
Ending abrupt. The first two books in the Donovan series were much superior.
